Cronenberg Considering a Remake of The Fly

At the risk of being the fly in the soup here, this is one remake I won't mind being done. I myself didn't much like the 86 version. The original was good, especially since it was very original for its time. Actually I'm surprised Sam Raimi hasn't grabbed this.

i saw the 2nd one and it freaked the ∞+×∞÷@ out of me.

I wonder why it always needs to be a remake? Why can't it just be a sequel? You know, like how Rocky Balboa in 2006 put a nice end to the Rocky series. If I wanted to see the original The Fly again, I'll just watch the original movie. Our current science and technology is advanced enough to make a believable 2009 attempt at the original experiment.

Sadly not the first time. Invasion of the Body Snatchers has been remade a few times now. And it looks like The Blob will be remade for a third as well. And this is not counting the kinda remakes (same movie different title).

Are you counting Kojima's Snatchers, too?

It won't be any good, Jeff Goldblum was made to play the Nerdy Brundle and it'll probably turn out that Brundle went into a teleporter with a big shot movie star.

No Videodrome remake either!

Unless this is being made by the same director, Hollywood will almost certainly ruin this, no matter how many famous actors are in it. Star Trek succeeded because J.J. Abrams actually knows what he's doing. For this, I'm not so sure.

Which one was that? There was the original from the 50s or 60s. The one with Donald Sutherland. And The one with the blonde that came out within the last 10 years. I also caught a movie that was called Invasion of the Pod People or something stupid like that. Maybe not technically a remake but same story with crappy actors and alot of boobs.

Remaking a Remake?

I got confused as well.

I know I can't stop the production of this movie, though I wish I could, but I just hope that it doesn't turn up being awful.

I liked the remake a lot.
