That's the point, cryengine 3 is a tuned down version of 2 for consoles.IdealistCommi said:Isn't that the engine for the console version of Crysis 2? Or it is just the engine for Crysis 2 in general?
Oh, and this:
Yes, I agree. I saw those too. CryEngine 2 looks way better, atleast at this stage of CryEngine 3 dev.Nimbus said:If you look at the Cry Engine 2/3 comparisons, 2 looks better IMO. I'm sure it runs better on lower end hardware, but the draw distance is absolute shit.
Meh, I'll withhold judgement 'till I see the finished product.
thats not true. console versions looks worse than cryengine2, thats right. but crytek put quite a number of new tricks in cryengine3 which only can be seen in powerful PCs.Spitfire175 said:That's the point, cryengine 3 is a tuned down version of 2 for consoles.IdealistCommi said:Isn't that the engine for the console version of Crysis 2? Well seeing as it can run on a console at THAT quality, I am praying that the GPU requirements are around the same as the first game but less of a hardware hog all together. I mean consoles have shitty GPU's compared to PC's, and if you have a PC that can run Crysis on close to High already, this should be no problem if it's more optimized. This is all on the hopes that the PC version won't be bullshit and be badly optimized and will run better than Crysis.Mazty said:Yeah my only concern is the kind of GPU you'll need on a PC to play it. Plus, I wonder if it'll be exactly the same on PC as on 360 and PS3 or how big a difference there will be.
I'm not denying that.IdealistCommi said:Yes, true. But it still looks damned good.
Yes, I know that. I just wanted to point out that 1)cryengine 2 looks slightly better(imo) 2)the system requirements to run in the first place it are not astronomical, as some might think. "Tuned down" can be interperted in two ways. I didn't mean "less advanced".saejox said:thats not true. console versions looks worse than cryengine2, thats right. but crytek put quite a number of new tricks in cryengine3 which only can be seen in powerful PCs.
Pc users have something to wait too.
Also new sandbox editor, looks way advenced than the orginal.
To tell you the truth, i am happy to see someone is pushing the limits of hardware. Otherwise GPU technology wouldnt advance that fast.
Read above, CryEngine 3 is for consoles. CryEngine 2 is a superior version made for PCs though, however I remember noticing every explosion looked the same.(shown even in that short video)Mazty said:Yeah my only concern is the kind of GPU you'll need on a PC to play it. Untrue. CryEngine 2 probably would has higher system requirements than CryEngine 3 will. 3 is tuned down from 2, and better optimized.Pielikey said:It looks actually realistic. It's a shame it'll only run on imaginary computers that might exist eventually.
Hardly matters GPU hardware is a lot better than when crysis originaly came outYuheJi said:Untrue.
