Crysis 2 mod question

I recently bought Crysis 2 during the Summer Sale, and I have a question about a particularly-famous pair of mods for it.

As you all probably know, there's a pair of mods called "BlackFire's Mod 2" and "MaLDo HD Textures." For the five or so not in the know, they take this already powerful benchmarker of a game into graphical overdrive. What I want to know is whether or not you can keep them disabled even if they're installed. My PC can only max 30 on the game's native HD texture pack (don't worry, I can play 30, it's just that I prefer 60 when possible), so these would probably make my rig explode like an atomic bomb.

For that reason, I want to know if I can keep it disabled until I can save up for an AMD RX 480. I would like to know because I already made a similar mistake with The Witcher. Modded it with an HD texture pack before finding out that my game could both ran as low as 30, occasionally below, on that game (seriously, and they say that Evil Within is crappily optimized), as well as screwed up the visuals if I didn't max things out (with that texture pack, I got red lines all around everything unless I maxed out the settings).

Point is, if I add those mods, can I still choose not to use them?

P.S. In a quasi-related note, does the Origin release of the first game have SecuROM like a number of them?

Just don't install them until you have your new graphics card, that would be the best option.

Is there any reason you need to have these mods installed now?

Because it seems to me that simply downloading the files to your drive for now and installing them when you can run them properly is less of a hassle than installing them now and figuring out some way of disabling them.

Well, there is a mods menu in the game''s main menu, so I was wondering if it was possible to keep them disabled, but stored in.

If I leave it in the downloads section, I might accidentally delete it later. If I leave it in a folder, I might forget it later.

Put it on the desktop next a shortcut to Crysis 2's mods folder then, write it down if you have to.
Fair enough, though it's also worth wondering in case I find a good total conversion mod (don't want the TC to replace the actual game after all).

BTW, are you able to answer my second question? (i.e., whether or not the first Crysis has SecuROM in the Origin release).
