Here is an article on this site about crysis 2 being announced for consoles
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/92344-The-Real-Reason-Crysis-2-is-Coming-to-Consoles

I didnt think they'd release crysis 2 on consoles, but if the pc release of crysis is anything to go on, its gonna be a buggy ride for crytek's first console release.

So, if your a crysis fan, or a general fps fan; which version would you go for? Quite frankly i cant decide.

Well im not a Crysis fan but as a FPS fan, it would be nice to play a Crysis game in my life without having to buy a futuristicly powered PC.

I don't think they can. They're using a new engine for Crysis 2, Cryengine 3, that is made to make it possible to play it on consoles aswell.

Yeah mate we know :)

I'd choose the 360 version, because it'd look a lot nicer than it would on my PC.

Oh joy. Another generic, repetitive FPS is being ported, instead of money being used to make something original and, you know, fun.

I'm not surprised that they chose this root. i am a PC gamer and love my PC but there's no denying that fps on consoles make more money than fps on pc

Yeah. which is a shame. PC games are usually cheaper on release which could be another reason for that. I doubt crysis 2 on the PC will be £40 like its sure to be on the xbox/ps3

You've clearly never played the first 2/3 of Crysis then.

The move to multi-platform is apparently so that Crytek can sell thier engine to a larger development market. I was dissapointed that they decided to (kind of) release it alongside a sequel, Crysis 2, rather than a more original game.

I'm saying this because a blank-slate game would seem more appealing to the majority of console owners than a sequel to a game that was an exclusive, and (I think) could thus be better in terms of initial sales + reviews. This would be better press for the engine than another sequel in the main stream sequel-fest that is this year.

*wonders where life has gone*

I'll probably buy the PC version... (if I buy it at all) because consoles and FPS don't go well together IMHO.

One part of me is happy that console players can play Crysis as well. The other half secretly hope that the port will suck like many of the console --> PC ports. It would make my day if they instead of writing "press 'X' to jump", they write "press 'space' to jump" and stuff like that XD.

No, I agree with his opinion of the game. I've gone through at least 2/3rds of the game. It is just eye candy, the gunplay is middle of the road, and it feels like you just move from gun fight to gun fight. Hell the gunfights are so repetitious I eventually got bored of comming up with a new strategy for each camp and ended up just slapping on invisibility and ramming vehicles into camps.

My biggest gripe was that the powers weren't that fun considering they burned out faster than flash paper. Hell if they made it anything like the intro cinematic then it would've been fun. Hell one reason I liked prototype so much was that how the powers should've worked.

I'd go for the console as I lack a high end PC. Although I've heard mixed things about the first one (that is was just a very pretty generic shooter basically).

It's actually pretty easy to run. People over-dramatize it a tad. If you want to run it on the Highest Settings, then it will cost you a pretty penny. But it's fairly tame at Low, and even Medium.

As someone with a computer that can run Crysis fine with all the main settings turned to max (as long as I don't turn anti-aliasing on), I would probably buy 2 on PC.

However, since my old computer could barely run it on medium, I can understand why people would get it on console, since it does away with system requirements.

Really? The amount Crytek whined about piracy and how they were going to never release anything exclusively for PC again because the pirates had ruined the sales of their polished dog turd of a generic FPS didn't give it away?

Crytek themselves said that both consoles could handle the original game but since they dropped support for Crysis so quickly actually porting it to the consoles would have left alot of annoyed PC gamers asking why the consoles were getting support whilst they were getting nothing.

i never heard anything about it, but then again i wasnt listening to chatter, i was playing the game instead.

Its not like the 360 and ps3 cant be modded to play pirate games, so simply porting it over wouldnt solve that problem; and since crysis 2 will probably be pirated on the pc again as well as on the 360 and ps3, logically there will be more pirated copies since its available to a wider audience.

Neither. Simply not a fan of the game. I'd prob choose whichever one was available for rental
