crysis 2 is a dumbed down version of crysis so it can run on consoles with more graphical limitations.

Problem is that Crysis appealed only to the audience with ridiculously good computers. Considering not all of them liked it enough to buy the second game, they lose a whole lot of player retention there. Add to it that the console versions are unlikely to pull hardcore fans from Halo and Black Ops, and you have at least a mild flop on the way.

I hope it doesn't get as big as COD. You lose the community after that. The only reason I like COD is because it takes all the 12 year old big mouthed kids away from games I play.

Already played the second one at eurogamer and it is solid (Nvidia booth, Game looks amazing) but I don't see it taking on CoD, Unless you spent a lot of money you won't be able to exploit the series yearly and Crysis doesn't have a fetish for guns or nobility of war fighting the CoD is famous for.

MewTwo pulled in 20 million units, I don't see the market as being big enought for two series like that

I lost faith in this game when they removed prone.

I hate the consolizations of games.
They still have lean and besides strenght mode was more than effective enough for scoring headshots with a mouse

Not unless they manage to make the gameplay fun, and not just pretty.
It's just that you generate your fun by creative use of the nanosuit instead of getting everything handed to you the same way every time.
yes! I had fun playing it on delta and going solid snake stealth on all their asses

OT: yes I am getting it for pc for the single player. Dunno about the multiplayer. It was a lot of fun in wars and original and very well done, but I just don't think im gonna be playing it much

So long as they don't change the nature of their games to try and appeal to a larger audience.

I like the [usually] solid (less said of vtols the better) FPS experience with the 'macho' american sci-fi plot, and they way they give you thinking time before running in.

People like games where you can just run around and shoot people in the face, others, such as myself, enjoy a game that allows you to pick off people one by one (New Vegas: Stealthboy + supressed sniper rifle FTW).

Any game could easily be bigger than COD, by finding what players enjoy, and doing more of it. However, nothing about farcry or crysis was trying to be a 'fast-paced action shooter' like COD.

The question is whether there's a market for the games Crytek traditionally make, without trying to steal share from COD.

They are making the PC version graphically superior. Like most games that are also on all platforms.

I don't know how you can say that it's dumbed down as you haven't even played it. From what I've seen it looks more customisable and intuitive.

Could be. At least I liked Crysis and Warhead better than any CoD games. Not that I don't like CoD though.

Then they need a full scale marketing, plus controversial issues so their game is boardcast on all major new channel and such.

Ooh, you've clearly played it! What else can you tell us about it?

If there's one thing Crytek does, it's pander to the bleeding-edge PC crowd. I don't think you'll have to worry about that.

Considering that its sys requirements are a absolute rapefest I am gonna go ahead and say the dude is fucking kidding himself.
Besides, Crysis 1 was actually quite shit.
Erm, they're going to modern consoles. System requirements are no longer relevant.

Crysis' gameplay is more unique and innovative than Call of Duty. CoD consists of manly men with M16s for penises that are unstoppable badasses and are brown and generic.

Crysis on the other hand has you needing to change your weapon and powers on the fly in order to survive rather than wait for jelly to fade away from the screen... It also has you going through melted motherboards left right and center.

And also I played the MP test at a friends house on the 360, and the game looks spectacular and plays much better than Call of Duty. Crysis 2 is in no way, shape, or form dumbed down. It's a fresh change of pace from the jungle that I welcome with open arms.

Shhh it's prohibited by intenet mandate #167 to ever like any change that makes a sequel different from the orginal
