I know the game isn't out yet, but considering it has been leaking someone might have played/heard about it and can answer this question for me:

Does it actually continue from the original story, or do they just start it three years later?

I read this on the wikipedia page for Crysis 2:

"As "Alcatraz", players gain ownership of the Nanosuit 2 from Prophet, who returns from the original Crysis.

At the end of the first, they say that Prophet's locator or whatever has come back on and they were going back to the island to rescue him, but this said nothing about that. Do they just say he got rescued or what?

Eh? I thought it involved Nomad like number 1.

But after reading that, Alcatraz? Interesting.

Yes.

I think.

I do believe you were captured by whomever the bad guys ended up to be at the end of the game and you stole the new nanosuit.

From what i picked up in the beta...
You start as Alcatraz generic marine number 25 who is sent on a mission in a sub to aid Prophet. You of course share the same narcolepsy as nomad but are not him. Your sub (of course) gets blown the hell up and you get dragged off by prophet as you are nearly dead washing up on shore. Prophet then removes his suit and puts it on you, leaving you an inbeded video upon awaking showing how he had become "infected" by the aliens and was no longer good and then proceeded to shoot himself.

The game dosent spend much else time explaining many links between what happened between crysis 1 and 2. You can tell it feels like a "console reboot" because there are a few segments where it grabs you by the balls and say "press this button now watch what it does, did you learn how to do it yet? no? well thats all you can do until our next ball grabbing session" This obviously justified by you being new to crytek suits.

Didnt catch any word of nomad or pshyco or even mis rosenthal, its mainly just prophet.

The aliens were the worst part of the first Crysis.

I should mention that I haven't gotten it yet. I don't have enough of a soul to pay for the computer required to run it.

(Hmmm, there's a theory - the reason most PC gamers are elitist pricks are because they've had to sell their soul to play Crysis on the highest settings. That'd piss me off too.)

Hey, I'm joking with this post, I haven't played the original Crysis yet because I haven't gotten a hold of a computer that can run it yet. I just made an assumption that the aliens were awesome
It's a fair assumption to make, I mean the aliens sure look cool. Still, the most fun part of Crysis is using your nanosuit to beat down on people with random objects, killing hordes of enemies with nothing but a dumpster. The aliens break that up with monotony.
