Crysis 3 announced

Crysis 3 is officially in development with more information expected to drop next Monday, developer Crytek has confirmed.

The sci-fi shooter was confirmed as the real deal via the official Origin website, following months of speculation and job ads hinting at the development of a third game in the series.

Given the nature of the leak, Crytek held its arms up and acknowledged that Crysis 3 is not only coming, but we?ll hear more info next week.

"Yeah, what can we say other than that the best kept secret in shooters just can't be contained," the firm told CVG. "We will share more information next Monday, April 16."

According to further leaks around the web, Crysis 3 will be released for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360, and is currently pencilled in for a spring 2013 launch. Apparently, it?ll take place in New York again, which has now become ?almost a jungle? following the events of Crysis 2.

Yeah Crysis 3 is incoming. I enjoyed Crysis 2 well enough despite it being not as good as Crysis 1. Seems like they're going back to a jungle setting AGAIN. I was hoping we'd get out of jungles/New York.

What's everyone's hopes for the game? I hope they go back to Crysis 1 style, perhaps with better suit short cuts. Also the aliens from Crysis 2 were rubbish so I hope we get Crysis 1 aliens.

I hope they'll pick a different section of New York. I'm just kinda worried that they just throw some foliage over the sets of Crysis 2 and say "Whole new game". At least that's what my pessimistic side says.

It might be kinda neat if they make it vibrant like Enslaved with the green plants contrasting beautifully with the rusted ruins of civilization.

But still, they could have gone virtually anywhere in the world, why revisit new york?

Y'know, I think I have lost the capacity to get excited over yet another poorly written FPS about defending the earth from aliens and incredibly thick humans.

I think meh might be my response. I loved Crysis even if it did suffer from Crytekitis (great game then aliens/mutants/monsters spoil it a bit). Crysis 2 however...I signed that petition saying I'd buy when the game was leaked early, then they released it without DX11 support, and it was a terrible corridor shooter, boo hiss Crytek. Crytek make good open space shooters and terrible hall runners. I was really hoping that Crysis 3 would be a next gen game and they could open it up a little.
