Crysis Coming to Consoles

I'll be damned... this may be the first thread I'll see that won't have PC enthusiasts demonizing consoles (since they already their game with all their fancy little hotkeys).

I may not be fond of FPSs but I'm not abhorrent to them. I'll give this a spin when it drops.

Fucking yes. Crysis 2 with big open jungle levels. I'll get it. Shove your PC up your nose.

OT: Looks like Crysis 1 with Crysis 2's inferior nano-suit so I'll pass. I'm just mad that if they are able to fit Crysis enormous levels on console hardware then why the fuck couldn't we get a proper sequel as well? Sure Crysis 2 is pretty open compared to Call of Duty but when compared to Far Cry and Crysis 1, then Crysis 2 is played in a fucking matchbox.

Like I said to another, I'm just tired of it being implied that I'm an idiot because I much prefer to play games on my 360 than on the PC (especially since I hate playing anything with a keyboard), usually from PC elitists of which I'll assume you are not one of them.

Though I admit, I probably could've worded my comment better. All I'm saying is that since Crysis already came out on PC several yonks ago, PC elitists have no grounds about tripping how their game was "dumbed down for console retards" because they already have their version and have had it for quite a while.

Even though I played both on PC I'm certainly not against multi-format releases and if it gets more people playing the original I'm all for it, remains one of my favorite games to this day and now everyone has a chance to play it, altered graphics don't really bother me so long as the gameplay remains the same.

Are you saying you're bothered by this, then? Because the all new controls part of it is pretty clear.

I see lots of people have bought into the silly hype that Crysis is just a generic FPS with shiny graphics. Wrong.

Crysis is one of the smartest, most freefrom shooters ever made. In some ways it reminds me of Deus Ex -- not in terms of gameplay, but because it let's you approach situations any way you want to, and gives you the tools to play in whatever style suits you. Until the shitty, linear 3rd act, Crysis is one of the best FPSes ever made. Console players who can wrap their heads around the amount of freedom in the game are in for a treat.

Oh, and to the guy who was asking above, they DID change the nanosuit to be more similar to the one in Crysis 2. I think that's fine, it's a more console-appropriate design choice and it won't really affect the gameplay that much. Wouldn't want it on PC though.

I just very rarely hear anyone singing the game's praises beyond graphics.

Aside from the other positive points people mentioned, I really enjoyed how destructible the environments were. My best memory was a huge firefight in a small military base, and I'm holed up in a small one story, 2 room building using it for cover, getting blasted from every direction. The fight felt like it lasted for five minutes of nonstop assault, and I managed to hang on to my life, but by the end of it, the building I was using for cover had collapsed around me, and I don't even think any grenades were thrown, just lots of heavy duty ammunition from mounted guns and such. That was awesome. I kinda wanna reinstall it now.

If a hypothetical person were mad that a game they liked was ported to a console they don't like over 4 years after its initial release then yes, they would be an idiot.

Seriously, this is a good thing, if this game sells well on consoles, we'll see a real crysis 3.

But, console fanboys, seriously don't think these graphics are even close to the majesty of very high at 1920x1080. They're a long way off. It looks like the game i played back on my laptop in 2008 (medium, 1366x768), which is an awesome game nonetheless.

P.S. PC gamers wont be enraged because they've got the awesome version of the game The console versions looks like it's running on a 2005 PC because it is! It's hardly enviable Plus, Crysis was 4 years ago.

The nanosuit in Crysis 1 (PC) was simple, effective, and allowed for a huge range of gameplay abilities. Crysis 2 is similar, but by streamlining it so much (where is my fucking strength mode and speed mode?) a lot of the magic was lost.

Ah, but that's the thing. I am of the firm opinion that the nanosuit was a MUCH better utility when all of those controls were separate rather than combining three abilities into one.

This may sound odd, but this is the best metaphor I can manage: Crysis 2 made me feel like a Super Human. Crysis 1 made me feel like a badass (or Predator).

I'll take the latter any day of the week.

20 bucks?! cool. I already own the first one on PC, I wouldn't mind buying again for that price. I'm interested in how the framerate will hold up since Crysis 2 on PS3 had awful framerate dips even when installed.

That is a pretty good price but it makes me wonder if it's worth it.
I just rented the ps3 version of Crysis 2 and besides the framerate, it was also buggy, and generally just not very impressive as shooters go.

Hooray.... Another thread to give PC gamers the chance to spit all over everyone else.

Crysis wasn't that great on PC and it won't be very good on console. I found the freedom was an illusion, the powers were underwhelming, the story was lame and the third act was gaming at it's worst.

I wish the devs weren't wasting so much money one this...
