1 Introduction

Crysis is a first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek and published by EA. It was released November 2007.
Even though this game is almost 2 years old it's still one of the best fps games today and at it's release it was given tons of awards and high ratings in gaming magazines like:
GamePro 4.5/5
GameTrailers 8.8/10
IGN 9.4/10
PC Gamer US 98%

GameSpot 2007 Best Shooter
PC Gamer 2007 Game of the Year
Gamereactor 2007 Best Action Game

With these scores i had nothing more than high expectations on Crysis and everything else but a magnificent game would be a massive failure.

2 Gameplay
Crysis has smooth gameplay. That is if you have a 512 gpu, 2.1gz dual-core cpu, 4 gigs or ram and motherboard made by the titans because it's a pc killer... <- that is the hardwar that i am using and it still lags like crazy, at some times that is.

2.1 Plot
The plot of Crysis is bad, just like every other fps, but that's the thing with an fps. If you want a good story play a Rpg, if you want good gameplay play an fps.
Anyway...
You take the role of Nomad, a American super soldier wearing a nanotech suit whom improves his physical strength, speed, health regeneration and armour.
Nomad is a member of Raptor Team, a U.S. Army Special Forces unit that are sent to evacuate some civilians from the island the game takes place on. Then the plot goes to hell with allot of side missions and aliens. That's enough to avoid spoilers.

2.2 Gameplay elements
Crysis is based around the nanosuit your wearing throughout the game. It has several features like:
Maximum Strength, a mode that makes your physical strength increase greatly, you will have the ability to jump 15 feet straight into the same direction the sky is... and punch/throw your enemies a long distance.
Maximum Armour, this mode will absorb all the damage caused by 1 bullet fired from any weapon if you have 100 energy(you always have 100 energy and it regenerates over time, about 5 seconds) if you have less than 100 it will absorb a portion of the damage. This mode also increases the health regen.
Maximum speed, This mode increases you physical speed and will greatly increase you running and sprinting speeds.
Cloak, just what it sounds like. This cloak makes you invisible for as long as you have energy and will drain you energy over time 1 energy every second while standing still and 5-10 when moving.
There is also an option for you to modify your weapon metal gear solid 4 style with, sights, flashlights, laser pointers, grenade launchers, tactical attachments(stungun mod), scopes, silences and various other things.

2.3 Controls
The controls for Crysis are just like any other fps in general, wasd movement, mouse 1 shoot, mouse 2 aim, g for grenade. The thing that is useful is the fact that the mouse 3(scroll wheel) is used in a perfect way, the different suit mods and weapon customasation mods are placed here and it works very well. The quick switches in mods you have to do in combat can be done in a matter in miliseconds.
The controls for cars and planes 'n boats are also well done, only sad thing is that they all handle like a car driving on a icy lake with it's tiers punctured.

2.4 Map
A thing i liked about Crysis was the large world and by world i mean island. It was a new and interesting place to have a fps in as every fps is either brown and shitty or set in an urban environment. There was one point in the game however i could not do anything more than to hate on the game...
The alien spaceship! The most annoying level i have ever played.
1. Your radar is broken
2. The whole place is a "no gravity zone"
3. The layout of the place is confusing, because your operating inside a mace that you both have to climb upward and run forward in, witch is confusing.
2.5 Difficulty level
Crysis is a hard game. Period.
I played the game on normal and i died at least 250 times. I am not a noob, i've been playing games my whole life, but Crysis is hard. The enemies are as good as you and the only thing that makes you better than them is the face that you have nanosuit that improves you performance. So it provides a great challenge.

3 Graphics and Sound
Crysis is known for it's awesome graphics and lighting maps and every game that is released today is compared with it and at some level the game has been flamed for it. Usually when me and my friends are talking about games and enter the subject Crysis it's all about the graphics. "Crysis is sacrificing gameplay to graphics" etc. etc.

3.1Graphics

3.1.1 Textures and Models
Crysis has the best graphics in a game today. Only games like Killzone 2 and GT5 Prologue is even close to how good Crysis looks.
All right bring it down here!
I never got to experience the full game un the ultimate graphics setting, actualy i had to play on Low, 1200x800, quoting Ben, Crysis is designed for a hypothetical supercomputer from space... BUT! I have played the game on a Dell XPS 730x(disclaimer, not my computer) and it was a breathtaking experience. Every ground texture, Skybox, house, vehicle, enemy, weapon, tree and scenery was perfectly textured and modelled. But even the small ornamental objects like flasks, patrons, branches, leaves, helmets, nails, computers and birds wore using a high resolution texture. The most amazing part about the entire visual, graphical experience must have been the explosions, high res, great physics breathtaking lightning...
The only thing i could point out is that the facial textures wore bad flat, empty, boring and did not have any personalty and that's why they are using masks at all the time, same thing goes for Halo and Haze.

3.1.2 Lightningmaps
I think that good lightmaps are more important to make a good graphical experience than good textures. Shadows are made to set a mood... and so is light. I've played games with great textures and bad lightmaps and the other way around and i have to say that the games with good lightmaps are slightly better looking than the good textured ones, like condemned 2 and L4D.
Now again Crysis is in the look at me i have great ->Everything<-
I mentioned that i played the game on Low settings all the time but let's face the facts, Crysis is good looking no matter what.

3.2 Sound
The only reason i picked up Crysis was because it was the only good shooter on my comp that could give me a proper sound check of my new speakers, the loghitech g51.
And i have to say, it was the most amazing sound in a game I've ever head weapon sounds, expositions, car sounds, speech, ambiance and music all went hand in hand, if they would have hands. It's almost as good as Killzone 2, witch had great sound.

4 Summation
Crysis is a good game, a very good game to be honest. It has topped most of my expects and been one of my best gaming experiences for a long time.
I would recommend you to buy it, play it and love it.
