Crysis is broken

You never have to redownload Steam games, just right click on the game in the game browser and select properties. Go to the local files tab and use the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache'.

Even better, I'll definitely try that when I get home tonight.

No, you just can't do it. Everyone else can play it and complete it, have fun being terrible at games.

Ohh good one. Except I've beat the whole level up to where it fucks me over 3 times, on Hard.

And to others: while it sounds like I'm calling Crysis as a whole a "broken piece of crap" I don't think it's entirely underserved given the fact that if one early level won't allow you to progress, it ruins a whole game. Hopefully I can get it fixed by following some of the helpful suggestions. Understandably, like most glitches, it's not "common" but already there are several people here who claim to have had the same experience. Just to support my claim since I swear people aren't believe this can happen simply because it hasn't happened to them personally:

There's lots more too. Please try not to be like Liberaliter, this isn't so uncommon and I'm just looking for a workaround. I'm going to do what dommyuk said with checking integrity through steam, if that doesn't work using a load point just before the rescue part I'll try restarting the entire level as apparently that can work. Here's hoping for luck!

It's hardly "a broken piece of crap" - the game's been out for 3 years and this is the first I've heard of this bug.

I take it you've patched it.

Yeah, my dad got so pissed off at that. I didn't play the game myself (don't have a beasty PC), but I can imagine that would be quite annoying, even if it only affects a small number of gamers.

Well it's still broken. I checked the files using Steam but all it did was redownload the stupid Comrade installer I had deleted. I tried completely restarting the whole level and once again I got to the point of killing both tanks, but my teammate and the hostage I freed didn't leave the room, I didn't get a mission update, oh and this time there's an invincible guy in the HQ building (with the flags, a hummer, and a trunk out front). He's upstairs and no amount of gunfire, grenades, or rockets will kill him. He uses a pistol. This game is seriously fucked up for me. I wonder if it has to do with using Windows 7 64 bit.

I checked on the EA website and the Steam forums for Crysis, there's a few posts relating to this problem but nobody has given a solution. Broken game ftl!

I've played through Crysis several times and never had that bug.

Same here. And the real kicker is, I haven't even updated the game. Every time I install Crysis and most other games, I usually don't update them. And yet I never ran into that bug. In fact, I've never experienced any bug whatsoever in Crysis or Crysis: Warhead.

What happens in that mission is the following:
- You infiltrate village.
- (Optional) You sneak into town hall and scout it out.
- You sneak into school building, go to second floor and head to the door to the room with the hostage being interrogated inside. Hit the Use key.
- You and Psycho break down the door and rescue the woman.
- Psycho tells you that Korean reinforcements are heading into the village.
- You go outside and destroy the two tanks any way you can.
- Psycho tells you he will escort the hostage to an evac zone once you have destroyed both tanks.
- You head out of the village and go further into the jungle, following the path along the river.
- You come across a corpse of one of the scientists, frozen with icicles jutting out of his bloody back. The Koreans surrounding him are shooting at something passing over them.
- You continue along the path to meet up with Prophet near a cave, and this involves you passing through (or around, if you so choose) a large, rocky, open area crawling with even more Koreans.
- You meet up with Prophet right outside a cave and you both head on inside.
END OF MISSION

That's how it should go. But like I said, I have never experienced that bug, despite the fact that I never have updated my copy of Crysis, so I don't know what's causing it.

EDIT: I play it on a PC, so i'm not sure what the solution would be on a console.

Not much of a problem to begin with. They would have to release it on consoles first.

All your whining aside, I never had that bug myself, but I heard about it happening to somebody... once. I even sent him the save. Sadly, zshare doesn't keep files for three years.

Yea after trying all sorts of things I deleted all local content, and redownloaded. That worked and now it's all fun and games. There was a lot going wrong in that level tho, so many audio clips I didn't hear and that sort of thing aside from the mission update bugging.

Anyway, as shitty and time wasting as that episode was, I'm back to having fun with Crysis so yay!
