Yes, that one game. Can you recall it? Probably not. In the sweep of games that are, you know, notable and worthwhile (MGS4, GTAIV, Brawl, etc.), Crysis is forgotten.

Well, with good reason.
You see, there's opinion, and then there's WRONG.

And Crysis is the first game that pops into my head (and everyone else's) when someone says "games of 2007".

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you can make stuff up about it. Actually, you can, but expect people to dislike the review. I did.

Crysis is the first game that I've ever played that made me sit there, stare at my monitor and say ".........wow..." Sure the gameplay had a few flaws but if you're the kind of person who considers video games art, then Crysis is a masterpiece.
I'm the kind of person who considers video games art.

However, you don't get into a museum just by drawing a landscape with really crisp lines and lots of attention to detail, do you?

There's much more to "art" than just technical excellence.

Assuming every single game ever should be judged as if it were intended to be art is the same as judging every drawing ever as a piece of art, it's pointless, silly, and you're going to end up giving almost everything a horrible score.

Crysis isn't art. On no level was it ever pretended or assumed to be. You don't take points off an orthographic sketch of a desk for lacking emotion, and you don't take points off of fucking Crysis for lack of story or art.

So take that, poster from two years ago!

(seriously, how did this thread get bumped?)
