I haven't seen much on the interweb about Crysis which has me a bit confused. Except for a slew of glowing reviews I don't see many people talking about it in my normal haunts so I was wondering if anyone here had an opinion on it.

I've got a G1 (512mb go 7700, 2gb ram, 2.0 duo, etc) and I played the demo at something around 1024X768 with medium settings and played the entire thing without hardly a hitch. I loved the demo and if the entire game is like that I could well see myself buying it but my experience with Bioshock has taught me to be cautious (I could run the demo fairly well but the real game made my machine cry even on low settings).

If I can't run it I'll just find a copy of Far Cry and get back into CS:S until I have the cash to upgrade or finally build a decent gaming desktop.

I dunno. I might go for it after they release those updated patches and drivers; depending on how good their reception is. If you can run the demo well, then normally I'd say it's a good indication that you can run the whole thing...

my rig isnt "amazing" but its good enough and by my standads ok, not TOO diffrent from yours (8600 gt 1b GPU dual core 3.44ghz CPU 2GB RAM (technically 3.5gb..says so in system settings and i know thats whats there but when check in some games its 2gb lol an explatation for that would be great :S)ive heard many say 8600 gt couldnt run crysis on medium well...i dont understand that.
anyway i can play crysis on high with no problem whatsoever and if since i made a cvar (cheap very high graphics settings edit) it runs smoother and cant myself distinguish it from the look of (all be it laggy) very high settings. ive heard people with worse off pcs have toyed with custom cvars and got exellent results...oh an btw if anyone is basing how itll run on there pc via the demo i PERSONALLY found the full game ran better.
only been out few weeks an im still not bored with crysis with all the levels coming out already and mods in progress :) im toying with the editor but meh

oo i just noticed your old card is the the exact same card i upgraded from...never tried crysis with it, but it ran bioshock perfectly (not that thats a valid graphical comparison)

I installed it and I can play at medium settings at a low res without much if any trouble. No problems so far but I wish I could play at a higher res and have more time to play because it's really fun to take your time and creep through these levels (plus you can't just rush in and hope you survive most of the time).

I got my new 8800GT today. I said to Crysis "What are my optimal settings, my good man?" to which it kindly said "Very High, dear chum". I laughed at it thinking "You must be mad!". Even with my Intel Quad 6600 and 2GB RAM surely I couldn't run like that...but I could.

Blimey, this game looks crisp. To be truthful though, I should have 4GB (or 3 with Vista 32Bit) but my brother is borrowing 2GB till his new memory comes in. As a result, I had to turn down Volumetric Lighting, Shadows and Water Effects to High. But still, everything was amazing.

Before, I had a 8800 GTS which could only run on Medium/High settings, but I'm suprised by the minimum requirements. They're actually quite low. Obviously, you're sacrificing the whole point of Crysis: The nice graphics.

It still looks plenty nice and I play games for the gameplay of which Crysis posses in abundance. It's been a while since I felt a rush while playing a game and sneaking around an enemy base taking people out with my silenced pistols gets my heart racing.

agreed, ive been on so many other forums where people just seem to hate it because they cant run it in very high and just claim theres practicaly no gameplay to it and its all just graphics. i do think the graphics make it a much more enjoyable experince and the first time i completed it was in high...so apparently that means it didnt take advantage of dx10 even though it ran in it :S... and it was still one of the best games ive played in a while as i do love the sandbox gameplay. oh and im the only one who didnt hate the aliens in the game...while i agree that the aliens introduction stop the whole sandbox gameplay i still thought it was amazing just a diffrent style of play.

can anyone explain why i can run everything in high (and now cvar edited very high) with my system? because on most forums (including this one) people with much better hardware like 8800gts can only run medium/high somtimes a nice mix of the 2.
my rig is:
8600 gt 1gb vid mem 2gb game ram detected although when check in system settings in vista and actually look in computer i know theres 3gb :S and a dual core 3.4ghz cpu, technically shouldnt i be stuck to mediumish settings?
