I know only one person who can run it on high, but since he can't use AA he can only play for an hour at a time (Ha!). Unfortunately, because I do not meet the minimum system requirements ( http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Crysis#Crysis:_System_Requirements ) I only got to play for 1 and a half but it does seem very similar to the Farcry series but with Sci-Fi thrown in. Its a pretty good game (pun intended), though I prefer more linear shooters like Call of Duty.

It's no Half-Life, but it can be very fun. It's great when you're stalking a camp of Koreans, slowly advancing in stealth mode and deciding who to pick off first and how, or conversly, in the middle of a Korean base with infantry, jeeps and helicopters chasing you, begging for your energy to charge up so you can enter cloak mode and escape.

It's story is pretty cliched, but so was Far Cry's. Not all games are about the story.

The thing with Crysis is it is what you make it. It can be a generic shooter, or it can be fun and interesting. It may be easier to do things the standard way, but its way more fun to jump around throwing guys and blowing up buildings. Its the kind of game that rewards creativity secretly.

I like crysis a lot. Graphics were good, the suit was fun the story was... well it was hardly Shakespeare and any plot developments you could see from a far cry (haha) away. But I think RRilef said it best:

That's how I saw it. I spent a lot of time in this game just messing around with stuff. For instance, I dropped a dumpster into the water then found I could move it by punching it! I then used this advancement in nautical transit to sail to islands.

For people like me, it's a lot of fun. For the frothy-mouthed console generation who needs to constantly be shooting things in a violent and hectic convocation of chaotic combat, it might be less than ideal ;)

My biggest gripe with it is the cliffhanger ending and short campaign. The multiplayer is fun, but it seems like it's ALMOST battlefield but just didn't quite get it right somehow.

great game! i played crysis for like 3 days, then went to play some Halo 3 (then my favorite game) on my trusty XBOX360 and found it had suddenly become old and boring. But, as metroidgearsolid mentioned it loses its charm a little when the aliens theme really gets going.

I actually liked the aliens, I found them interesting. I just about got bored with fighting infantry when they came. Their AI is pretty neat as well, and they are tough.

I just found the game incredibly boring. Far Cry 2 is better in my opinion. Crysis just didn't hold my interest long enough to get more than halfway through.

As for graphics, a lot of games are better looking than Halo 3. Halo 3 doesn't even have decent lip syncing.

Okay, I guess I should try to explain my position on Crysis.
Pretty, but it lacks substance.
So, I'm going to just blast my way through this rant without rhyme or reason, because damned if I wanna do much else.

The Suit. General concensus is (according to this thread) is that so long as you're using it fully and trying different things, you'll have a blast. If not, you must be playing a gung-ho standard FPS style.

Bull. SHIT. Any game that is basing its entire "You'll have fun!" aspect on A SUIT is in and of itself trying to support a building with a single piece of wood. It doesn't work.
Here's the part when you can say "Har har" - I'm a CSS player. I enjoy CSS. I can step in and play, and I get fun simply from the standard gameplay. I don't have to fiddle around with different tactics or know seven different ways to throw a smoke grenade.
Crysis, on the other hand, oh no. To extract enjoyment out of the game, I have to learn all these different nifty things I can do with a suit of nanobots and all this jazz. NO. BAD DEVELOPERS. BAD.

In continuation, I'll mention something about the thought that the suit is a 'gimmick'...

"In marketing language, a gimmick is a unique or quirky special feature that makes something "stand out" from its contemporaries. However, the special feature is typically thought to be of little relevance or use. Thus, a gimmick is a special feature for the sake of having a special feature."
- Wikipedia's gimmick article

As I recall, the big cafuffle about Crysis (at least to my ears) was a) It was going to make our eyes melt at the visuals and b) the suit was nifty.
Well, at least at A) it succeeded. It was damn pretty. And yes, the suit -was- nifty.
But that's all it was.

There is no real reason why you cannot simply stroll through the game, only changing suit functions to strength when required (or simply not turning it off as I seemed to be temped to do). There is no motivation to use the suit to its fullest. Its mere presence can well be considered completely optional.
So what's the point? Its the only way I'll enjoy the game?
THEN WHY NOT MAKE IT AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE GAMEPLAY TO BEGIN WITH?

If you can't get any fun out of making your way through the story the developers and writers have simply failed. In that light, let me move on to...

ACT II, Or...
"Oh yeah, there're aliens now."

The storyline for Crysis is a funny little thing. The opening scene before landing on the beach and that subsequent part of night can actually be reasonably tense at times. I mean, the first play through I thoroughly enjoyed that single part. But then, somewhere, it changes.

Gone is the interesting and suspenseful night fight, in comes "Yeah, go kill those Koreans and turn off the comms jammer."
Here I was thinking I was meant to be Special Forces or something, and I'm being ordered around to do what is essentially a paradropped grunt squad's job.
As an aside, why was I handed all these trivial tasks in the first place? To help the marines land and all this other stuff. Why is it, though, that I'm always told that people are supporting me? Jason Statham looked out onto the harbour with a sniper rifle and did JACK SHIT TO HELP ME. The only time you get REAL fire support is with the tanks, and they all seem to be idiots anyway! SO WHY THE HELL WERE THEY EVEN THERE?!

And it doesn't seem to get up after tripping up so damn badly.

"OHSHI- ALIENSESESES!"
What purpose do the aliens serve in the story? We already had villains! They were Korean! We could laugh at their terrible guns, terrible accents and terrifyingly godlike accuracy and capability to lob grenades at stealthed, hidden targets.
No, for whatever reason, the story saw fit to introduce fucking ALIENS into the mix, for (from what I can tell) the sole purpose of making shit shiny and cold!
Couldn't they have just stuck with the concept of making the koreans having similar nanosuits, and that they were bringing them out faster and the elite core was coming in? They didn't need to go ahead and try to stuff an entire second act with some pointless storyline about aliens intending on destroying humanity. THEY HAD EVERYTHING THEY NEEDED AT THE TIME!

And don't even start with the climax of the game. yes, we blew up the alien mothership. Wow. Very difficult fight, huh? Nuke launcher, infinite (or at least so much that it doesn't matter) ammo and it only fires at the designated weak points that are pointed out to you. And for what? NOTHING. The alien race isn't destroyed, we just delayed them from blowing up our already sinking carrier. They're still on the tropical island, there's likely two dozen flying squid bastards on their way to the nearest major city and we're all FUCKED. Nice ending. Really made me feel like I accomplished something.

The entire second half of the game would be eliminated if the game wasn't about the story. That final boss fight? Completely unnecessary. Its almost a 'click now to win' cutscene, for pete's sake. The vehicle escape scenes? Cut them out. The scientists? Cut them. It could be renamed "Killing Koreans for Fun and Profit!" if you want to take it to an extreme. But no, there's
an alien race bent on human extinction
which almost makes me think that they were TRYING to make a story work. But it didn't. It was a flimsy excuse at best, and at this point all I can say is that the only thing remotely innovative is the suit and the graphics. And I've already spoken about the suit.

So that's all I'm going to say for the moment. Have fun, kids. :)

Hey, hey, it's not much of a powersuit!

Nothing like Crysis, anyway. ;P

In F.E.A.R. 2 you have this cool armor and glasses which protect you against bullets, explosions, ghosts and mad psychic girl who tends to explode entire cities.

One thing I hope they integrate in the next Crysis game is a more squad based gameplay. I felt that they sorta hinted towards that with the nanosuit guys that helped you in Warhead...and they were USEFUL. I mean they were not down right invincible and didn't just baby you. They were not useless in the fact that they actually supported you by taking out enemies, laying suppression fire and had the right amount of smarts that made it feel like you were playing with OTHER PLAYERS. Now THAT was good friendly AI, and since we got Nomad, prophet, and psycho, I can see squad tactics being a new and useful feature in the next game. We might even see some new nanosuit guys like cupcake lol.

Very true. I was talking over all though.
