This will probably get buried under the plethora of Mass Effect 3 threads but screw it, read this:

And then click this:

Personally I really REALLY hope this comes to fruition. I've been hoping for word of a new Legacy of Kain game for years now and while it may not be the sequel I was hoping for, it's still new Legacy of Kain stuff!

So, thoughts? Opinions? Reactions?

Although I can't help but wonder what they'll do about the voices. If it's not Michael Bell and Simon Templeman then I shall be sorely disappointed. Not so disappointed that I wouldn't still buy it mind you.

I am... cautious, I suppose is the word.

Gameplay-wise, the Soul Reaver series (+ BO2) was pretty uninspired. Your standard 3rd person hack-n-slash with block puzzles and shades of Mega Man (Raziel taking his brothers' powers).

Combine it with the sort of writing that makes Bioware look like the guys who did the opening crawl for SMB2 and some of the best voice acting I've ever heard in a game[footnote]Yeah, Templeman and Bell get all the props, but Tony Jay was in just about every game, FFS[/footnote] and it's the Stuff. Of. LEGENDS.

On the other hand, though... I'm not sure I've ever seen a reboot that didn't go very, very badly, in any medium. (Well, except for the CG cartoon "Reboot" which, to my knowledge, was never rebooted...)

Who the hell am I kidding tho? If this comes out, I'll be buying it on day 1.

Update: Ugh. Just found out that Squeenix owns Crystal Dynamics now... My expectations just dropped precipitously.
