so... PC gamers were complaining that more people were allowed to play their game because it didn't have gargantuan system requirements?

i will never understand it.

I call it a because you cried enough gift. I mean my PC can handle it, and it would've looked better. But I really didn't care THAT much.

That's nice and all, but Cervat, how about making the game actually fun to play?
This. I would think this would be a more suitable use of their time considering this is a GAME we are talking about.

Making us wait 3 months for something that really should've been included when the game was released is a gift? Man, holiday season is going to be interesting this year.

I welcome this news. If Crytek want to keep their reputation of products that push the graphical envelope they need to be doing stuff like this. And yes I know a good game is not all about the graphics.

The graphical features they are rolling out with these patches are things that are going to be part of the next generation of consoles (tessellation, etc), so if Crytek want to be on top of their game they need to be dealing with it now. That means at the moment doing it on the PC, sorry console detractors, but that it how it works and how it has always has worked in the osmosis between PC and Consoles.

Crytek has always tried to push the graphics envelope, and I think that they have always done a decent job on aestetics, and did an excellent job with Crysis 2. So with this, I think that they have managed to circle around the, "Just right" area of impressiveness versus requirements. Once my computer comes back from being fixed (Yay for warrantes!) Ill have to check out the patch. The game was pretty, but seemed like it was missing something...

Also, Crysis 2, and all of Cryteks games, I think are solidly fun.

I never got this.....Crysis 2 looks amazing, better than Crysis 1. I just thought it was an extremely optimised engine.....but the "TV Brightness" option made it an obvious PC port.

If they can make it look even better with a simple patch, I'm not complaining.

Hmmm, just wondering... does this "gift" come to us who bought the game on Steam, now that the game's mysteriously vanished off the store?

"Too little, too late" scenario.
Now people might buy it as a fancy tech demo, but at £13, I doubt Crytek will be making any returns on it.

The same people that make demands about a sequel are the ones that whine when released. Combine that PC gaming's elitists attempting to "call the shots" and moaning about the console-ization of games. What's the problem with more people playing a game? In the end, developers getting trashed for making the game they wanted to.

OT: If they can make a game look better, fine with me. At least they're supporting they're game and taking some suggestions that were made when the game was released.

Wait, wasn't Crysis 2 released like a few months ago? Why wasn't this done a few weeks after it released?

By now, the game is more than dead.

I always said the original Crysis was more of a benchmark than a game in the eyes of the community. So once a certain audience has adopted you, changing that can be a pain.
It still goes to show how snobbish some PC enthusiasts can be. Some spend thousands on a top rig and then find they have a difficult time justifiying that investment to themselves aside from 3dMark and SuperPi tests. So when the benchmark-game went too easy on their PCs, naturally they get angry.
