Undead Highway

To finish off the Trilogy of Zombies, we have Undead Highway. If you read too much into things, like yours truly, you could say that this fits into Road of the Dead quite well, with this being the part of the game after you crash, having to fight your way through a zombie hoard to get to a car to continue listening to good ol' BBC Radio 2, with it's wide array of music and Armed Forces Intel. Oh yeah, and for survival and stuff.

Seriously though, the idea behind Undead Highway is linked closely to that of Road of the Dead, with someone planning on escaping the zompocalypse via vehicular means, but approaches it from a different angle. At the start of the game, you see a nameless guy blow some zombies away. The fool that he is, he was listening to BBC Radio 1 - Smooth Tunes and Late Announcements About the Doomed Nature of Humanity. Someone informs him over this radio that there is a Haven available, but they are locking it up for good tomorrow. Our hero, as with Don, realises that walking is not the way to go, so goes outside to steal cars from the shambling non-living.

The gameplay is based around two factors - killing zomies to find the keys to get out of the current area, and killing zombies to get different parts to make new weapons. While the weapons can be funny and interesting - an acid gun made out of a bubble blower is really funny in my opinion - the game pitches this part by saying "You've got a brain for making gadgets. Send those creeps back to the smelly world they came from by finding junk and assembling it into devastating weapons." This sounds as if you get to make the combinations, but instead they are automatically created once you find the appropriate parts.

While the story is nothing special, you'll probably keep going to see what the next weapon is. Chainsaw Cannon!
