As I scoured the Escapist forums for a thread I could productively contribute to, I encountered a familiar sound. Twas a rumbling, powerful, growl from deep within my being that let me know it was once again time to seek sustenance as all humans must. I arose from my chair and made my way downstairs to the kitchen. Seeing as my talents in the field of meal creation are remedial at best, and I did not want to spend too much time away from the wonderful members of these forums, I settled on a quintessential holdover: the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Procuring the necessary ingredients from the pantry and refrigerator, I placed two slices of bread upon a napkin. Acquiring a spoon from a nearby drawer, I scooped a glob of jelly from its jar, the satisfying plop caused my mouth to water as I placed it upon the bread and spread it around. Then, pulling out a knife, I began to collect upon it the necessary amount of JIF? Crunch Peanut Butter. My eyes widened, as I seemed to have achieved the perfect peanut butter to jelly ratio, a feat I accomplished far too rarely.

However, as I began to spread the peanut butter upon the other slice of bread, I encountered some resistance. Considering it nothing more than a minor inconvenience, I applied more force to the knife, hoping to spread the peanut butter evenly. Disaster struck. The resistance of the peanut butter to spreading, combined with the force I applied caused the bread to tear. I released pressure, and attempted to spread the remaining peanut butter as carefully as possible, but to no avail. Each stroke caused the bread to be rent asunder, a crevice of failure causing peanut butter to fall onto the napkin below.

I was devastated. Then I made another sandwich.

Have you guys ever screwed up any kind of food-making endeavor? I'm especially interested if you actually have some culinary talent, and managed to folly quite spectacularly! However, feel free to make me feel better by sharing your story of simply-made foods gone awry as well. Doesn't have to be as embellished as mine was, either.

Well, for a project I had to make ginger snaps (a sort of cookie, for those who don't know). I mixed all the ingredients together, rolled up balls and put them on a pan, then put the pan in the oven.
I pull the pan out after cooking them for a bit. There were no cookies. Just a sludge which filled the entire pan. I tried two more times, to no avail. Suffice to say, the project was late, and I got my sister to bake them. Then I had to explain to my entire class why my project was late. I am now known as the guy who can't cook.

As well, from another endeavor, there is a quote from me saying "I am pretty sure you will not die from drinking this milkshake", but that's another story.
