Curiosity about Muse

How many Escapists like Muse? I've been a fan of them since Origin of Symmetry, and I'm just curious how many others on the Escapist like them.

Love them. I can definitely understand people not liking Matt Bellamy's voice, but instrumentally they're amazing, and I've never seen a better live performance.

It's not that I don't like them, but I never paid much attention to them. My friend really liked them though, up until they did a song for Twilight (not the only reason of course - that would be petty).

He more than makes up for it in musical skill. Not many 'musicians' today show musicianship.

Sweeping generalizations don't work, and I don't like them. All their songs are the same, and the lead voice needs to open his mouth more when he sings. Oh, and the person who posted beneath you doesn't like them either, accurate generalization you made there

Edit: Actually, I half take it back. Relistening to the song I find my annoyance of it has faded but yeah, if I listened to it a few more times I would rehate it.

If someone could suggest say their top 3 Muse songs so I can get more of a feel for their better works then I would appreciate it.

My top 3 are "Thoughts of a Dying Atheist", "Starlight", and "MKUltra" (not necessarily ordered).

If you're in to Queen, try "United States of Eurasia". I will admit that Matthew Bellamy's voice can be kind of offsetting. I personally love it, but everyone has their defined tastes, and his voice is pretty unique.

OT: I love Muse. Honestly, I view them as the most talented 3-piece band since Rush. I've also been told by many people that my voice is somewhat similar to Matthew Bellamy's, so that certainly helps me enjoy them when I can sing along with them so well.

While this does suck, "Neutron Star Collision" is a pretty bitchin' song.

i did like them, their early stuff is good, songs like bliss, shrinking universe and map of my head are amazing. but i hate their last two albums, over produced glam rock nonsense.

Yeah nah. I strongly dislike everything from The Resistance onwards. But I love everything they did prior to then. It's a shame about their most recent stuff imo. They were once one of my favourite bands.

Muse has been one of my favourite bands, though their newer stuff I'm not a fan of as much. The Resistance is very different to their older albums, and is much more "mainstream". I'm into heavier stuff like:

I don't really like them. I even saw them live once (wasn't there specifically to see them, they just happened to be on while I was there) and I walked out because I was bored. That's not to say I think they're horrible - just mediocre and play-it-safe. Don't have any real opinion about their old stuff vs their new stuff either, it's all pretty run of the mill to my ear. Lots of people like it though, so hey, whatever.

This is a typical case of "I like them, but..."

I like them, but I can't listen to their albums (in whole) for more than once a day. Maybe it's the singer's voice, maybe it's the heaviness of the songs or maybe just the screwing with your mind aspect.

I like Muse like I like my whiskey, on the right moment, but not randomly through the day.

Calm down buddy. For all you know, he could be saying that he personally doesn't know anyone that dislikes Muse. That being the case, of course he wouldn't have been thinking of you when he made that comment. Stop being so selfish to think that he would. Regardless, even if that's not what he meant, you are taking the comment way too seriously.

And for the love of God, don't present your opinions as facts. Ever. Again.

Muse is a splendid band!.....there newest album wasent so good though...after black holes and revelations they sort of went down hill
