Current console generation to last 9 years

Good, I'm glad. Another next gen console would just be ridiculous right now. Well except for the NGP. I still wonder how that's gonna play out.

I'd be more shocked at this if both developers didn't say right at the release of both systems that they planned on them having a 10 year life span.

As a gamer who hates updating, I find this as excellent news! Technically the Kinect is considered a console and I'm sure the PSMove is considered a console as well which would explain Sony and Microsoft not wanting to release a brand-new console. Also, Microsoft and Sony could be considering the next Nintendo console as their true entry into this current generation of consoles since their last entry, the Wii, is greatly underpowered when compared to the PS3 or 360.

In my opinion, a new console for Nintendo is a god-awful idea. Not the fact that they're getting a new console, but because they're releasing it wayyyyyyy too soon.

The current consoles don't even run the bloody games at 1080p.
Crytek and Ubisoft are both claiming the current console generation is harming creativity because the machines are too limited to do the things they want in a game.

Honestly, I really don't see a point to a new console generation except for Nintendo which can actually do something beyond the wii. Microsoft already has HD graphics and really the only thing that they could change was to go from dvds up to bluray, or even doing flash memory games if they feel the need to do that. I really don't think the ps3 needs a new generation but knowing sony execs they will push something out that will cost a fortune when the ps3 is still cutting edge. I mean they still have room to push that system for at least 5 more years before they will need a new console.

Blame the gamers. Look through these forums. Most people ***** about sub par games based just on graphics alone. My most played PS3 title is Disgaea 3 - compared to what the PS3 can do - it has graphics equal to a PS2 or a PSP

We are in the minority. Just find the good games and put the money on games for us and not the masses who want to see dust particles settling on their redone AK-47 in CoD 7
