I'm guessing by 2016 by the list will be mostly for next gen systems with only CoD,FIFA,Madden and maybe a few other high selling titles still coming out for the previous gen. (Also the Japanese like to hang on to older systems so you may see JRPGs still coming out for the PS3). At that stage you'll "have" to upgrade.
CoD actually doesn't have much of a history for supporting older consoles. World at War was the final release on sixth gen consoles and it was only the third Call of Duty on the 360/PS3/Wii. In addition it wasn't even the proper version of World at War, it was a port of the PSP version. Think of CoD 3 as the Seventh Gen's Ghosts just not as awful. Advanced Warfare's ports to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 aren't even going to be developed by Sledgehammer Games. Maybe Treyarch's 2015 release will be the last port. As for the other two, I would say they'll stick around; it's a tad depressing that FIFA 14 was one of, if not the last game ever released on the PlayStation 2.

OT: Huh, I never had framerate issues on my copy of Dead Rising 3, but maybe I just didn't notice it. The only real answer is looking at what games it has to offer and thinking do you desperately want that.

I really want to get a Wii U, especially because my biggest reason to get it (Bayonetta 2) is released this year. I also don't regret deciding on getting an Xbox One, even on launch (admittedly that's because I already have a PC which I sometimes fiddle about with on garmez).

You might well be right I hadn't really done the maths properly, 3 prev/next simultaneous released would probably be enough even for CoD. Which leaves very little in 2016 remaining on the 360/PS4.
