So the topic on my mind today was Cyber Bullying. Now the more I think about it and what it is, it just gets more retarded to me. At first I felt a bit bad for the bullied but after a while I thought, "Wow those guys are pussy's.". Now don't get me wrong, I don't condone bullying or endorse it in any way possible, I just think it's stupid that people get worked up over all of this.

And people commit suicide for THIS?

People don't commit suicide JUST because of being bullied online. Lots of other factors are in play, like the non-virtual world. Online bullying is often done by people who are in the same school or area as the victim, so the issue is very likely to carry on in the real world too.

I believe most people who have committed suicide after being cyber-bullied knew their bully in real life. And the bullies stalked them at online and at school (again most of the people I heard that have committed suicide were kids in school). Also they were meek and already depressed or showed signs of depression. Being that they weren't allowed a safe environment from their bullies, they committed suicide.

Most cases are the result of the online abuse.
Though I can see the other factors.

Well really if you want to bring the safe environment argument into play, they could just block them? I don't really see how you can actually stalk somebody online and harass them. Real life deffinetly but online? Nono.

Have you ever been bullied? If not, and I'm not getting snappy here, but if not you cannot possible fathom the experience. The victim can often fail at rationalising their position, to the point where they feel it is their own fault, they are to blame, they somehow deserve it. As a result, this can expand and well, sometimes suicide seems the only logical conclusion.

I was bullied severly for 5 years of my life and I know how it feels to have it happening to someone. It just baffles me that somebody could not see the stupidity in what there commiting suicide about.

But it isn't a matter of stupidity. It is a matter of extreme emotional and psychological distress which often times dismiss logic and reason.

It really depends, I myself never felt that way either, but I can empathise with the mindset. Cyber bullying, from what I am aware of it, is usually an extension. It creates an all pervasive atmosphere of fear, those targeted are usually unpopular with a weak self esteem and at times easily broken, so, it is easy to see why one could come view life as so wretched.

Yes suicide is a stupid thing, but the human psyche is oft a fragile thing.

The, "extreme emotional and psychological distress is what gets me. In the time I was bullied, I'll admit I cried a fair bit, felt bad about myself and heard the worst of comments about me. I just don't get how somebody online, knowing them or not can say something so hurtful that it gave them "pschological distress.".

Cyber bullying can be just as bad as it can be offline, if not more so. It is usually happening while the person is at home, and it can also be done almost constantly, with no real way to retaliate.

It's often times not coming from people they only know online, but from people they know offline. People from school, usually, who take their abuse online.

I believe it's just as bad, and also harder to stop.

It has already been explained once, but I guess I will have to do it again. The case I know of where people have committed suicide after cyber-bullying were children (teenagers and younger) who knew their cyber-bullies in real life. The bullies harassed them at school, and then at home through my-space and sabotaging website the victims created. These kids were also already depressed before hand.

Now the argument could be bullying did this and you don't need to call it cyber bullying. But these kids got riled up to the point they couldn't rationalize their own life.

Yes and added to this is the fact that many would use the internet as a means of escape, a safe haven, to have that destroyed is painful beyond measure.

Pretty sure Cracked covered this. #1 on the list [http://www.cracked.com/article_18982_5-terrifying-online-trends-invented-by-news-media_p2.html]

Basically 2 things:
1 - the cyber part was only one part of the bullying
2 - the cyber part of it is only a new way for kids to do exactly what they've always done. Which of course is be little shits.
