I have been reading through the rules (second edition) for the 80's Tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020 (often mentioned in the Escapist's amazing column Check for Traps).
I have been playing DnD for a while now (Originally Fourth Edition but now the much superior Castles and Crusades) and am thus familiar with tabletop RPGs, but since I have never played Cyberpunk or any non-fantasy I was wondering if anyone with experience could tell me anything about the game?
Faults?
Successes?
Things I should know?

Honestly I love the game but it has aged very baddly, Seriously you want to look at shadowrun. It has elements of fantasy (Elves Dwarves Orks Trolls and magic) but they are easy enought to romove. It a is a far more rugged system and is much more up to date.

I actually love the age on it. I love 80's culture and all that old style it has just seems funny and endearing to me. Am I missing some glaring issue or is it just about outlook?

Digest a bunch of cyberpunk style media, shadowrun for the sega and snes, a whole slew of interesting movies, books, etc. It'll give you a lot to think about, like how often things in that genre are hilariously terrible.

Not at all I Love cyberpunk 2020. Its just as a modern game it plays baddly. I have introduced people to both systems and shadowrun always goes down better.
