This trailer for Cyberpunk sure looks cool.

Made by the same guys who did The Witcher and what not.

Because I am a kind soul, here it is embedded:

According the the secret message in the trailer, the game itself isn't actually expected to be released till around 2015ish and will be a completely open world narrative heavy rpg set in the Cyperpunk roleplaying setting. An in-game trailer is in the works.

Within the setting cybernetic enhancements are commonplace, however abuse of such enhancements can lead to insanity which is what the trailer depicts. Said people who abuse cybernics are called psycho's, and tend to go on rampage killing fleshy meat things till they are stopped either by the police, or by a special unit called the psycho squad. That squad in particular known for its habit of capturing psycho and brainwashing them into new members, thus the girl at the end now as part of the squad. It does however erase their personality and make them more machine than human, so don't expect to play one.

And that's that. There's also a snippet about Witcher 3, but that's for another topic.

I like the music.
And hey, big titties and OTT blood (well, kinda), it really is a CD Projekt Red game!

I wish there was more content to the trailer... but that's just because I want it so bad. It's going to be a long wait until it's ready.

I do quite like where they're going with the story though. Reminds me a lot of Bubblegum Crisis, which is always a good thing.

Didn't like the music (lol, that singing), but it left me interested.
I quite enjoyed the Witcher games and am curious as to how they've advanced since.
The change in scenery, equipment and whatnot is great.

ZING!

I'm pretty hopeful for this. It won't be coming out for a while, Projekt Red do make good lore, if the Witcher games are anything to go on.

I don't know what Bubblegum Crisis is, but the game is based on this: Cyberpunk 2020

Never really heard of it before myself but it seems neat, especially the way enhancements come at the cost of empathy so you've got to balance power vs. conscience. Reminds me of the humanity stat in the Vampire: The Masquerade setting, which is a good thing.

Eh whatever. This trailer didn't give me any reason to care about the game at all. When they release a trailer with some more substance I'll decide if I'm excited for this or not.

The Witcher games are based on books so I don't know if they would be good at world building themselves.
Though I don't think this is original either.

If you're into cyberpunk but aren't familiar with Bubblegum Crisis, I highly recommend you look into it. It's an anime series based pretty heavily on the typical cybperpunk tenets (the original and best version is a little old now, but is only 8 parts long with a 3 part sister series called AD Police, so it's not a time consuming watch). BGC deals a lot with the humanity of artificial life forms and ADP tackles more of the human augmentation angle. Great stuff if you like the genre.

Really? Huh. Well, I guess they at least do good jobs with translating lore into games.

In any event, I feel they're competent enough to do good things with Cyberpunk 2077. I'll be interested to hear more about as release day draws ever nearer.

Thank you for telling me about this, I knew cd projekt hinted at something cyberpunky, I just didn't expect them to call it that. I know they are also working on Witcher 3 (what else is a rpg in a dark fantasy world). I love the flair Cd Projekt puts on their games (the dark themes) they are one of my favorite devs, so I'll look forward to this and its amazing graphics.

Great visual concept. Not much more can be gained from a teaser trailer, it's more a taste of the aesthetics, style, and technical proficiency of the studio. I have to say, I like it.

Anything cyber punk like deus ex he or GITS has my attention.

Anyone else think the cop car looked like a "spinner" from blade runner? :p

The lady seems to have a more brutal version of jensons sword arms too.

So you literally lose your humanity in both mind and body? Sounds like it could be an interesting concept :)

They're calling a cyberpunk game, Cyberpunk?

-_-

Okay, that's -1 right there. Let's hope - other than the title - the rest of the game can be... good?

They're not though. They're just continuing the naming theme that the actual franchise has. Cyberpunk 2077 (CD Projekts game) is set in the same universe as the old pen & paper roleplaying games Cyberpunk 2013 and Cyberpunk 2020 from 1988 and 1990. Since this franchise is one of the first actual Cyberpunk game franchises (Cyberpunk is generally considered to have originated in the 80's), I'd say they can use the name "Cyberpunk". I mean, if they can't, who can?

Yep, and it also has one of the creators of the Cyberpunk franchise working with the development team. In this case it's not just the cyberpunk genre, but the actual Cyberpunk license. Sort of like how Shadowrun is a license based in the cyberpunk genre. If there was a new Shadowrun game, it would likely be called Shadowrun: Something.

Well, okay... I guess?

Still doesn't excuse those P&P guys in 1988 for being lazy (since I know that term has been in use since 1980)... but I'll go along with it.

lol
