That could be any non-good (and not Chaotic Evil) alignment, I'd think. In a narrow context, that could be either Lawful Neutral, Neutral, Lawful Evil, or Neutral Evil. Chaotic Neutral might have some objections, but it's also possible.

i think this question would be better suited to the wizards d&d forums.

they would definitely be lawful, but it depends on what they would have another character do.

if they forced the protect-ee to do things that were against the protect-ee's alignment, then they would definitely be lawful evil.

I'd say Lawful Evil. Neutral or Neutral Evil doesn' cut it, Lawful Neutral would likely do it if the obedience was based on some kind of tribal/social tradition or law. A lawful neutral would not enter that kind of 'agreement' from his own will without some kind of outside force pushing for it. Chaotic Neutral would be unable to keep or at least greatly tempted to alter the conditions of that 'agreement' according to the whims of his mind.

That's my understanding of it.

first yes I should do this at a D&D board but one Im to lazy to do all the joining stuff to post there and two they would make fun of me and Im self conscious. As for the protect-ee's they are there out of a mix of love fear respect and a desire for protection.
