For those of us who play D&D, I was wondering as I lack experience myself what some of the "Player" types are. For example in my group, there is a person who constantly wants to be in the heat of the action and dealing as much damage as possible. They are a rouge, however despite the fact the DM will always scale creatures to our level he seems to think his character is "Bad Ass" and will try to kill a stronger creature, generally a boss all by himself. Now in this campaign if your character dies they are dead and you have to get a new one. One that is a different race and class. This doesn't seem to phase him, all he wishes to do is kill.

Now the odd part is I ran across some threads where this was sort of defined as a "Type" of player. They had even named it. I can't recall the name of said type...

I like to focus on smaller details, and latch onto them and keep bringing them up even when they probably don't matter in the campaign. It's just what kind of player I am...

Now then, I am asking the escapist as a community, at least those who play D&D, what "Player Types" they have run across, with a description, and a name if they wish.

Supposedly there is the power-gamer, who kind sounds like the guy you described, as well as people who primarily play a particular character class. There are also people who enjoy playing as the strangest race or race/class combination they can find.

But then I've only really played pathfinder and at most have as little experience as you as what the player types for D&D or other table top RPGs actually are.

I don't know what the player types are...But I can tell you the kinds of people I've played with.

People who take things too seriously/or not seriously enough
People who have no clue what's going on/ or have memorized the rulebook
Douches who criticize endlessly if you make a mistake on a turn

And a lot of the people I've encountered just play to have fun.
