"This is Jean. As of now, you'll be supervising his field training until he gets a handle on things"
"Are you serious, Genna? We both know what happens when new recruits are shafted immediately into D4; I know I certainly do. Besides, that's why we founded D5 in the first place: to decrease casualties in new recruits." Aaron shook his head in submissive defiance, well aware that he was fighting an uphill battle.

"Hello Aaron. Good to be meeting you."
Aaron turned around to greet the man. Based on some of his inflections, Jean was a native French speaker as well. Lovely, this is getting even more similar to my last partner. Aaron thought to nobody in particular. Aaron turned to greet his "partner" with a smile. "Well Jean, of the many things this meeting is, a pleasure is certainly one of them. Now, if you don't mind me asking, please tell me that you are hard to kill." His pay had only just reached the levels it was at before what happened to his last French partner, and Aaron wasn't eager to go through that again.

"Fire can be a tricky element to control, the fact that even the smallest spark can cause damage is something to be concerned about. As for a private show, thats sounds rather exciting; seeing a magician like yourself at work."

"I'll see if I can set something up sometime then," Garath said, smiling, with the amount of time he spent doing work for DICE he was a little out of practice with the more complicated tricks, but he was sure he could set up a simple routine.

Their food and drinks arrived, and Garath started eating, he was surprised by how hungry he was. The food was very good, or at least his dish was, he was glad Isabelle had chosen this resturant.

"So I'm sure you've got some interesting stories to tell, think you've got any that would be appropriate for this setting," he asked, then took a drink of wine.

"Well Jean, of the many things this meeting is, a pleasure is certainly one of them. Now, if you don't mind me asking, please tell me that you are hard to kill."
Jean stared at him blankly, slowly working through the mire of words. French was bad enough. English was worse. And this man seemed to be intentionally making long sentences.
After a moment, he pieced it together, as best he could. "More than some. Less than others. We will see." he said slowly, with a shrug.
"What are we to do?" he asked, turning to Jenna. He was fairly eager to begin. Training had been terrible, but he wanted to know everything he could about this secret world.

"What are we to do?"

"Pretty simple one for your first gig"

Jenna handed a file to Aaron with everything that they needed in it.

"A number of hours ago, an agent went missing in America on a goodwill mission with the vatican. We need you to talk to however might know anything. And if possible, nail down his location"

Jenna turned to Jean.

"If you need weapons, there is an armory on the 3rd floor," She made a hand motion of shooting a gun and and a 3 with her hand. "You can stop their on the way out"

Don't let me stop you

The old man nodded and carried on with the briefing.

"As you all know from the latest update, those responsible for the recent springs of break ins at our facilities have been taken in or exterminated. However, this doesn't look to be the end of it"

He pushed a button on his chair, and a computer on the table displayed a holographic chart.

"Over the past 4 months, we've had over 60 fatalities of our agents. Usually, we'd assume our people were colateral damage. But after this attack by Zorrama, I'm starting to think this is part of a bigger plan. Simply put, I want everyone to start arming themselves. From the desk clerks to the janitors. Also, Richard. Do you know how far D6 has gotten on researching those parasites?"

Richard looked up, he hadn't really been paying that much attention, but he had heard what the boss had said, so sighed. "Well, I was asked to give clearance for the body some hours ago, so I'd say that we'd start getting some real results right about now, give or take depending on how hard they've worked. I don't have anything I can give you yet, as it is procedure to check samples at least twice, especially in a case like this." Where had he heard this? Oh, yeah, that was right, his first day or so. Either way, he would have remembered it, as it was common sense to make sure your results weren't a coincidence or an accident. "I'd say we would have a bit more accurate information tomorrow." He probably knew something most others didn't about the thing with Zorrama, but he wasn't supposed to talk about that.

"Is that okay?" he did ask this, but truth was it didn't matter, as he couldn't give them more. That was what you got for making someone like him Head of D6. Richard glanced over the other heads, but he couldn't read their expressions. His eyes didn't linger on Voltaire, as he knew he wouldn't be able to read him either.

Christina was the only one that was visibly worried. Lin merely gave a raise of his eyebrow when Richard said nothing was ready yet, and the others merely say and waited for further instruction. The Leader chuckled at the oddity of Richard's question.

"Why yes. You're fine. They did only just get it after all" The leader then turned to the head of division 4. "Tell me Captain. Have you made any headway into the movements into the Solaris family"

"Plenty of little tidbits. But nothing we can use against them. The biggest thing we have is that one of their members went missing a few hours ago, but that's it"

"Fine. Fine. Have someone look into that as usual"

The leader kicked his feet up on the table and leaned back. "We'll need to be getting to the bottom of these attacks. But we need to focus on gathering information right now. That's really the only thing we can do. Zorrama was are first major break through. If anyone here finds out more from your people, don't hesitate to call an emergency meeting. If everyone's concerns are quelled, that will be all for now"
Everyone went silent, and Richard took that as a sign of there being nothing more to do, so he waited for the others to start leaving, before doing so himself. He was the first one out of the door, and he went to the cafeteria to eat some food, before heading for his bed and going to sleep. He slipped back into his pajamas, and underneath the duvet, falling asleep instantly, and not waking up until the morning.

Zhang was done with the Division meeting, and was all set to go about his day. He decided to head to Division 2 to see about a certain someone that could help him with a problem of his.

That's when he saw a familiar face. Byron was what he thought his name was. He heard stories about the guy. While off putting to others, his skill might be useful for what he had in mind.

"Hey. Guy. Mind if we talk for a moment?"

"I'll see if I can set something up sometime then." Garath said smiling. It was soon after that their food and drink arrived, all of it was so well prepared, and it tasted so delicious; this was one of the most enjoyable meals that she had in a while, even more so because there was someone to share it with. The crisp flavour from the wine went well with the juiciness of the steak.

"So I'm sure you've got some interesting stories to tell, think you've got any that would be appropriate for this setting?" Garath asked as he took another sip of wine. This caused Isabelle to stop and think, taking her time with all the encounters she had over the years of her life; with so many to choose from, it was hard to think of which one would be 'appropriate'. After a moment of silence, Isabelle eventually found one.

"Here we are Garath, I think I have a story that might interest you, though I must warn you that I'm not that great a storyteller; so I apologise if it isn't exciting enough for you." Isabelle said with a nervous look on her face, as she began to weave her tale.

It all started around ten years ago, back when my father and I were still consultants for D.I.C.E; though this would of been my first solo mission. I was sent over to the Kanto region of Japan, as they received reports from a local agent regarding a mysterious and rather sudden blizzard that occurred within the area. Around roughly the same time, reports of men disappearing with no rhyme or reason began to surface. Now, your probably wondering why these two things are connected, but we will get to that later.

After meeting up with my contact Hirano Sakai, we began to search the areas in which the men had disappeared; but we also were looking for a tall woman with long black hair and blue lips, as someone matching this description has been seen with some of the missing men. We arrived at one of the more recent sightings, to discover that a large mound of snow had been left there. Digging through it, we found one of them; his body was limp and lifeless, his eyes were cold to the touch, and from the look of it, it was as though his blood had been drained from him, for his skin was deathly pale.

Now then Garath, if you know your Japanese mythology, and by the looks of it you don't, no offence; then you'll know that these are the signs of a Yuki-Onna, a tall beautiful woman who has control over ice and snow. However, there are some differences regarding their behaviour. Sometimes, she is simply happily see a victim die as they are encased in snow; others say she takes on a more vampire like demeanour, and drains a victims blood or life-force, leaving them as either dead husks of lifeless bodies; some even think that she becomes a succubus like monster, preying on weak willed men to drain and/or freeze them through sex or a kiss. But back to the story.

Over the next several weeks, more and more men went missing, each suffering a similar fate as the last underneath a mound of snow. But then one day, we discovered something different, one of the bodies was still alive, albeit unconscious. Both Hirano and myself were confused by this, why would a Yuki-Onna start killing, then suddenly leave then unconscious? We were to find out that answer soon, as we found some evidence; a lotus flower with a blue center, which also had traces of spiritual energy. Using a special tracer, we had towards a old, abandoned castle on the outskirts of the region,

During the trek to the castle, Hirano told me about the time he lost his wife to a harsh snowstorm several years ago; so in a way he was treating it as a vengeance mission of sorts, but from the look in his eyes, he was still sad and lonely about not having someone to love.

We arrived at the castle two days later, as the path to it was through some difficult terrain, meaning we had to travel on foot for the most part. Atop the battlements, we could see the Yuki-Onna looking down on us with a fearful gaze. She descended whilst we had our weapons drawn, but didn't seem to care, from the looks of it the spirit had been crying recently, frozen tears on her porcelain white skin. Seeing this we lowered our weapons, but still remained cautious in case this was a trick.

After throwing some rather silent glances between myself and Hirano, I decided to ask why the Yuki-Onna had been crying. It was because she was lonely, and wanting a lover; this reminded me that a Yuki-Onna can have a softer side. They have sometimes be known to let men go for some reason.

When asking why she had killed some of the missing men, she discovered that it was because they didn't care for her emotions of her well-being, all they wanted was something to have sex with; in other words they were selfish, and she was teaching them a lesson. It was justice in a rather perverse manner of speaking.

The spirit, who called herself Yuna, felt the loneliness within Hirano, and asked if she could help with healing it. They both discussed for a while, and decided to live with each other, as they both felt better when standing in each other's presence; but the next question arose as to how they could actually be together. Hirano suggested using his deceased wife's body as a vessel.

It took some doing, but eventually we dug up the corpse, and began a binding ritual. After the process was supposedly over, it looked as if the Yuna had wasted the opportunity. But suddenly the eyes opened up, and she became alive. Using her remaining essence as a catalyst, she managed to repair the body after years of decay; it looked good as new. We found a suitable body to act as a replacement, one that wouldn't raise too much suspicion if questions were asked.

After dealing with the bodies of those that were killed, making sure they had a decent burial, we managed to clean up the snow mounds, and file convincing cover stories to various newspapers to ensure the matter was laid to rest.

"Actually thinking about it, a few years ago, I actually received a letter from the two of them, with the good news that Yuna was with child." Isabelle said, ending on a happy note as she took another sip of wine.

"And there you go Garath, again, sorry if this story was what you were looking for or this has put a dampener on our evening, chalk it up to me not having to tell stories all that often."

"A number of hours ago, an agent went missing in America on a goodwill mission with the vatican. We need you to talk to however might know anything. And if possible, nail down his location"

"Lovely, missing agents." Aaron accepted the folder and began to flip through the information, looking for any notable highlights. "No attacking the guy or sabotage, just finding the target?" After glancing at his new partner, Aaron wasn't sure that he wanted to wade into a fight of any kind while relying on this guy. His confidence wasn't bolstered by Genna making hand motions in Jean's direction to get her point across.

Byron Kelspring
"Hey. Guy. Mind if we talk for a moment?"

Byron trudged through the D2 hallway, heading back to his lab, as he had nothing else to do, and he couldn't sleep. When he was addressed, he reared his head around in a cautious but non-menacing manner. "Yeah, I'm a guy. What to you need to talk about?" The rest of him rotated to face the masked man, and while Byron recognized the mask, all he knew about its wearer was that he was important.

Jean stared coldly at her. People making hand motions at him annoyed him to no end. He appreciated the sentiment, but it was needless. He simply took longer than most to get his words together, and to understand them. Hand motions did little to help or hurt his understanding.
"I know where. I was here before." he said simply. He had. They had given him a brief tour after basic. However, he left the questions to his new partner. He figure that a veteran would know which questions to ask better than he would.
Si vous les gens parlaient une langue moins barbare, peut-être je pourrais comprendre plus facilement, he thought sullenly. He could already tell his partner didn't think much of him.

Garath listened to the tale with interest while he ate, he felt slightly offended when Isabelle said that he didn't look like he knew Japanese mythology, although she wasn't wrong about that. When she had finished he thought for a bit before speaking, "Not at all, it was a fascinating tale," he said, "It wasn't what I expected, but I'm not sure why you would think that a story with a happy ending would put a damper on the evening."

He looked down at his plate, there wasn't much left, and his wine glass was also nearly empty. He felt it was a bit creepy that the man had suggested his dead wife's body, but he thought that it was a good story nontheless.

"It is good to know that we do manage to do some good in the world," he said, glancing at Isabelle's plate to see how cose she was to finishing, "Even better to know that there are people we can talk about it with, I don't suppose you'd care for some dessert?" he finished.

"Not at all, it was a fascinating tale." Garath said, which made Isabelle feel better about the story. "It wasn't what I expected, but I'm not sure why you would think that a story with a happy ending would put a damper on the evening." He then noticed that there wasn't much left on his plate, even the wine glass was near empty. Isabelle continued eating whilst she told the story, so there wasn't much left on her plate.

"It is good to know that we do manage to do some good in the world."

"Yeah, I guess your right Garath. Its those moments that make our job worth it in some way." Isabelle said, pondering her words whilst finishing her glass of wine, and already thinking about pouring another for herself and Garath.

"Even better to know that there are people we can talk about it with, I don't suppose you'd care for some dessert?" Garath asked, noticing her plate was becoming empty.

"The moments when you can share your experiences with others are often the best times. As for dessert? Why not, after all it is a special occasion; but let us wait for a while first. Say how about since I have told you a story, it is your turn now Garath. Go on Garath, surely in your lifetime, you managed to have at at least an experience or two worthy of a story." Isabelle said with a suggestive wink as she poured out another glass of wine for the pair of them.

Danny was in a blank-white plane, injured, and with nowhere yet everywhere to go. He looked behind him and noticed in the distant horizon, the plane was vanishing. Soon, it would reach Danny and take him to a place he'd rather not go. He had no choice but to keep on moving, something that bothered him. He set off at a slow pace, tired and numb from the things he experienced. Every time he had a breather, he woke up to find himself in a bizarre and uncomfortable situation. He felt like Dr.Jekyll, whom lost control of his body from time to time. The blood, however, wasn't a Mr. Hyde. It wasn't feral, mindless. It was cold, chaotic yet calculating. And now Danny was trapped in his own head, forced into another fight. Fight or flight, yeah right.

After a while Danny looked behind him again and noticed that he was on the edge. Beyond him was darkness, a vacuum for the soul. He felt a chill in his body after staring too long and returned to his walk.
The white turned pale, eventually being a shade of light beige. Grains of sand manifested under Danny's foot, and each step was now announced by a soft crunch. Flora started to manifest too, the odd tree and cactus appearing here and there. It all felt too real. Just when Danny thought it couldn't become anymore life-like, the plane produced its own sun. It was bright enough to illuminate the land but dim enough to stare at. Consequently, the plane turned colder. Danny began to shiver and rubbed his arms with his hands. Not satisfied by the warmth it provided, Danny walked at a faster pace. Soon, he no longer paid any attention to the desert and simply looked forwards. He didn't even notice the Sun coming down and a bright, full Moon appearing in its place. It was the ever watchful eye, seeing everything in its strange world.

When morning came, Danny was no more tired than he was before. His eyes felt like they had bags underneath them but aside from that, Danny still felt he was in good condition to continue his trek across the endless desert-sea.
It was surprising, how he was beginning to feel good about his situation. The desert was relaxing, and this only further nourished him. He felt no immediate need to see what was beyond, in fact, he wanted to stay still so he could properly enjoy the view, be in the moment for once. His lifestyle demanded him to do be doing everything and anything all the time. His hectic life never forced him into being organised. As a matter of fact, it was slowly eating away at him; his inane attitude towards work. Perhaps his drafting into D.I.C.E. was a life-saver, of sorts. A blessing in disguise, a hidden miracle. Of course it was hard to truly believe it considering the situation he was in right now. But if he hadn't joined D.I.C.E. and fallen victim to a parasitic blood-demon, would he have ever pondered this? Or would I have stagnated into the history of Detroit, like all the other police before me? He was already replaced; a youthful hotshot had been eyeing his position for months.

Would D.I.C.E remember him? The thought of being forgotten was disturbing. Maybe that was why people feared death.

"Exactly that. It might evolve into something more depending on what needs to be done. But that's the extent of it right now.

Garath was surprised by this, he hadn't expected Isabelle to ask him about such a thing, he felt like he was blushing a little, and momentarily considered using illusions to cover it up and then decided against it. He tried to think of a good story along the lines of what Isabelle was implying, he had never been asked to tell such a story before, and he tried to think of one that would work.

Definitely from before DICE, wouldn't want to bring up anyone she knows, something unusual perhaps? I have a few of those, probably should leave most of it up to her imagination, this sort of story probably works better that way, besides we're in a public place.

"Well that is an unusual request, but I suppose I might have an interesting experience or two I can talk about, I won't go into too many details as I still don't remember all of them myself, but I think that might make the story more interesting anyways," he said, adjusting his tie a little and taking a drink of wine before he started, "So it started when I did a show in Vegas, had my name up in lights outside the casino I was performing at and everything, needless to say I was looking forward to the good time the city promised, so I did the show, nothing too unusual there, but after the show I decided to start my night off with a little drinking, maybe some gambling, I was over at the bar drinking more than I should have been, when I was approached by this beuatiful young woman looking for a good time just like me, can't even remember her name, but the next thing I knew I woke up in her room with faint memories of well, I'm sure you can imagine, my memories ended about when she got out the whip, after that all I can recall is a faint sense that it was not as unpleasant as I would have assumed while sober, at any rate I woke up with some large red marks in various places, wearing some rather unusual attire, and she was lying next to me smoking a cigarette, I think she was ready for round two, or whatever number we were up to, but that was about when her dad broke in, see he owned the casino and was a little overprotective of his daughter so I ended up thrown into the street still wearing mostly the aforementioned unmentionable attire, and with nothing to show for my work except some vaguely pleasurable memories and a headache."

He paused to catch his breath after finishing the story, he doubted it was exactly what Isabelle had wanted but he thought it was at least entertaining if nothing else, he finished the glass of wine she had poured for him and then looked at her, "Sorry if it wasn't quite what you were expecting, I don't usually get asked to tell that sort of story, but I hope you at least found it interesting," he said, then he glanced around for the dessert menu, "So do you still feel like some dessert or would you rather we skip that and head back to base?"

Isabelle listened to Garath's story, finding it a mixture of confusing, amusing, and rather strange when it got down to some of the more darker details. Garath then paused to catch for breath, and downed the glass of wine without a second thought. "Sorry if it wasn't quite what you were expecting, I don't usually get asked to tell that sort of story, but I hope you at least found it interesting." He then glanced around for the dessert menu. "So do you still feel like some dessert or would you rather we skip that and head back to base?" Isabelle pushed the glass of wine away after drinking some of it, then shivered slightly as the thoughts of the story passed through my mind.

"Yes, some dessert would be nice thank you; might help me take my mind off that story, no offence Garath. Never would of guessed you were that type of person, then again in a place like the City of Sin, stories like that are common; not that I've been to Las Vegas myself, not my kind of place personally." Isabelle remarked, not trying to sound offensive or insulting in anyway as she drank a glass of water to clear her palette. She then looked through an extra dessert menu.

"Anything take your fancy?" Isabelle asked.

"Anything take your fancy?"

"How about the cheesecake," he said after glancing through the menu, he had no idea what sort of dessert Isabelle liked, but the cheesecake looked good, then again so did the chocolate cake, he poured himself a glass of water, he figured that if that was the story he'd chosen he'd probably had enough to drink.

"Good. Alright then. Any other questions from you two before I send you off?"
Jean silently shook his head, and stood, then looked expectantly at Aaron.
"I will wait outside." he said slowly, then went and stood outside the door. He expected Aaron to argue with the woman about going on such a mission, without having to do it in front of Jean.
He sighed, but understood Aaron's annoyance. He would likely feel the same way.

Garath laughed. "Yeah after that I decided it really wasn't my kind of place either, that was years ago, I wasn't quite the same person I am now." He then had another look at the dessert menu, obviously fancying several of the choices. "How about the cheesecake?"

"Hmm, it does sound delicious. I was thinking more of the chocolate fudge brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top." Isabelle said, subtly licking her lips as it reminded her of when she was younger, and the cakes that her mother made. What wasn't subtle was the blush on her cheeks, but she cooled down after a glass of water.

"You know Garath, tonight has been rather enjoyable, thank you."

"We'll get that then," Garath said, glancing about for the waiter so he could place the order.

"You know Garath, tonight has been rather enjoyable, thank you."

He smiled, "I'm glad to hear that, maybe we can do this again sometime," he said, finally locating the waiter, who was on his way to collect their empty plates.

Byron shrugged, being as indifferent as he possibly could. "Sure, the only other thing I've got to do is to concoct super-soldier drugs for you fellows, and that can always wait. Besides," he cracked his hands in anticipation and emphasis, "I haven't broken anything alive in a while, and the lab's starting to get uncomfortably familiar. I'll go with you."

Aaron Pertition

"I will wait outside."

"Okay Jean, I'll be there in a second." Aaron closed the folder and turned to Genna, shaking her hand in the process. "Thank you for the mission, Genna, and we'll get on it right away." He left her office with a somewhat cheerful air, being less of a grump than when he walked in. After he closed the door, he walked over to Jean and greeted him. "Well, Jean, let's see where we're going." Aaron pulled out the mission briefing and flipped to the page that summarized their mission.

I'm already dead, so why not enjoy this?
I'm comfortable here, I don't see why I should escape.
I think I do, yeah.
Immediately the world began to crumble. The sand sank into a whirlpool, dragging the plants and occasional rock here and there. Soon, it came to Danny and engulfed him in the darkness. Millions of grains surrounded him and the sun disappeared from his sight. Although the pressure should have turned Danny into a pancake, he only felt small pressure, the kind someone was exposed to when a metre underwater. In total darkness and with nothing to do, Danny wondered if this was the final stage of bliss. To turn into a mummy, buried underneath the ground with a smile on his face.

Peace would only last for so long as Danny found out, the hard way.
Truly, this was the epitome of killing someone with kindness. Numbing them with joy until they were too numb to comprehend real feelings, real emotions. The blood knew Danny would try and resist and overcome whatever challenges it threw at him. Pain, was not going to be the downfall of Danny. It was an overdose of serenity, something Danny needed but like everything, it had to be kept in check. It was clever, a less subtle tactic that had unfortunately been rushed. For as soon as Danny realized what he was trying to do, he began digging. Of course as soon as the blood knew Danny knew, he pushed Danny back so he made no real progress. Danny would not become tired in this world, he couldn't. The blood had all the time in the world, and until it found a quick solution it would not have complete control over its host.

"Determination, you lack none and have too many."
