Out of date perhaps, but perfectly edible, probably was even better than any time in its packet before you threw it at the floor. I've eaten a beef rib joint that I, two hours before, had shaved a skein of mould off of and it was one of the most delicious meats I have ever had. In short beef is a safe bet so long as its not mouldy.
