My first thought was that the angle of impact was the key factor; I never once saw the pepper land at the angle that the salt shattered at but after so many consecutive drops, if that was the case, then it should have shattered eventually as well from weakening. So, necessary crowbar was necessary.

it was the fact that the thing was filled with pepper, acting as a force absorber. But for the salt, being less easy to compact and having more empty space in there, allowed for easy displacement instead of compression.

Mmh... 500x300 turns it into a 3.4MB file, which Photobucket is not thrilled with. I could send it to you. Unfortunately I'm using some limited tools at the moment, so reworking it to lower the file size isn't an option.

Honestly, I should just put up a tutorial on how I do it (totally free, natch) but I'm not sure how the Escapist staff feels about anyone giving advice about how to rip videos from their site.
