"No More Heroes." This is my response to the idea of the Wii being entirely family friendly. "Madworld" looks like it's going to rock.
Dang blast it (See? At least I'm being family friendly here).

I was going to use No More Heroes as an example.

Despite the fact that the game doesn't appeal to me, as a gamer I think this is a game the Wii needs to extend beyond its current niche appeal. It may be a large niche, but its a niche nonetheless.

What I feel about the Wii is that Nintendo had adopted a motto something along the lines of "appeal to everyone." However, in that fervor, they ended up not trying to "appeal to everyone" but "appeal to everyone we haven't appealed to before" (i.e. the casual crowd). The Wii, while an amusing system with some decent games, has been running strong on a casual crowd, but has left the "hardcore" audience out in the rain. Now are "violence" and "hardcore gamer" equivalent? Well, some people seem to think so. But regardless, I think MadWorld will open up that "appeal to everyone" mantra a little more and make the Wii have TRULY universal appeal.
You know, this really sums up the general reaction of 'hard core' gamers to the Wii. And I don't agree with it. The biggest problem is that it's a short-sighted reaction. In the post, you're saying that the most popular console on the market is a niche product solely because it appeals to everyone (possibly excluding 'hard core' gamers), rather than to a specific group (the aforementioned 'hard core' or traditional gamers), the opposite of the definition of niche. Whether or not you like it, Wii is the wave of the future. It's making huge amounts of cash in markets that have until now been largely closed to video games. In the next decade or two, we may even see traditional games relegated to the role of a niche product. I don't know if this will actually happen, it depends on many factors, including whether or not new gamers move into more traditional games. However, regardless of that, it does not change my main point. Just because you don't like the Wii does not mean it is a 'niche product' or has 'limited appeal'. The sales figures don't lie.

O.O I have never heard of this game until now, and I feel ashamed.

This game looks so amazing O.O. One of the few Wii games I would want.
