Decided not to poll this one. The question here is pretty straightforward.

Which do you prefer when gaming?

Head-on and not worrying about the damage you take?

Or avoiding damage as much as possible?

And why? And if there's a middle-ground, tell me how that works.

You have to be concered on some level about how much damage you're taking. Otherwise you wouldn't exactly get very far.

Depends on the game and difficulty. Devil May Cry series I preferred no damage. Shooters I prefer to just charge. Although, DMC gives you a lower score when you get damaged.

What I prefer is games that give me situations that force me to switch from the best option being attacking head-on ignoring damage taken and the best option being to avoid damage as much as possible.

Charging the enemy and dodging are usually viewed as the same thing to me, both encouraging movement. Playing defensively is when I'm force to guard or stay still, and I generally dislike doing that in games. I prefer feeling like I am chasing or being chased. That being said, great games are the ones that force me to adjust my tactics to the situation, rather than having one style always win.

I do find dodging every attack thrown at me to be more impressive than changing an enemy and winning in minimum time.

Depends on the game.

For example Megaman X.
I DEFIANTLY watch how much DMG i take.
Especially if im trying to fill a Sub-Tank.

While in some fighting games i don't care how much DMG i take as long as i get the attack i need.

Since I'm playing lots of shmups lately, and you typically lose some or all of your powerups when you take damage, I'm going to go with no damage.

And I think I found a middle ground. You can take damage, but but it is so minimal you may as well not even bother worrying about it.

I usually try to avoid taking damage, then fail miserably and charge in and get myself killed.
