Dammit! I can't remember!

I can't remember this show from when I was a kid. This is bugging the hell out of me so I've come to ask for help.

It's a scifi and from BBC.

All I remember is a key thingy. The main characters were trying to get this key for a reason I can't remember. The key was like a puzzle. There were pieces which all fit together to make a round ball thingy. This was the key I think.
In one episode they were trapped by a force field created from the fragment of a key. They were trapped in a rain fores type setting.
In another they were trapped in a red room. I can't remember much about that but I think some how the robot in the room got them out.
The key was yellow.

The more I think about it the more annoying it gets.

EDIT: I found 2 shows on Wikipedia that might be this show but since I can't remember them I don't know if they are or not.

Was this a kids' show or an actual adult TV series? Because the first thing that came to mind was Raven but I don't think that was even out then...

I saw it on the BBC every morning. I'm not sure if that's channel 1 or 2 but it was back when we only had 5 channels.

I'm pretty sure it was aimed at children.

No this was most defiantly a drama. If you can call kids shows that.

I remember that show. It was alright.

But it can't have been that. It wasn't scifi for starters.
