I caught myself doing this today and wondered how common it was. Have any of you ever caught yourself completely unintentionally quoting a movie, just because the quote has, for whatever reason, found its way into your vocabulary?

For me, it's the line in the title, though it's not from where you might expect. It's actually a line in Austin Powers, referencing Planet of the Apes as he explains what the future is like.

Always do this. More recently, I've been doing TV shows though.

it's not a movie
but from the first series of Blackadder
Blackadder asks 'does anyone know what happened here?' or words to that effect
and a peasant a good 100 yards away raises his hand and in a thick glouster accent yells 'No! i don't'

and for some reason it's stuck with me and i always have to resist the urge to say it (including the false accent) whenever anyone asks the room collectively if they know the answer to a question
it made college ... a nightmare
i don't always manage to hold it in

Happens all the time...an awful lot of common phrases and figures of speech are from movies, or before that, plays.

Closest I've come is adopting "Good news everyone!" and "Sweet zombie Jesus!" into my everyday use, courtesy of watching Futurama WAY too much.

'Hey, man!' in a drunken, slightly doped up voice that Donald Sutherland does in Kelly's Heroes is a typical greeting from me, to which I always expect the waspish response 'the hell're you doin'?'.

'Well, I'm drinkin' wine, eatin' cheese and catchin' some rays, y'know?!'

Pulled it off a few times.

Its not a movie but I've definitely caught myself saying "... would you kindly" when I want someone to do something

and that

Man, what an awesome title thread for the question in relation to my story:

So my friend and I were walking through the supermarket looking for some chips and pop and when we went down the aisle that it used to be in, it was completely barren. So, I immediately fall to my knees, look at the completely empty shelf and just yell out "THOSE DAMN, DIRTY APES! THEY BLEW IT UP!" and then got up, walked over to the nearest, shocked employee and asked where the snack ailse was now.

Good times...

All the time, actually. Much of it is Gunnery Sgt Hartman from Full Metal Jacket. You'll be surprised how often "What's your major malfunction, numb-nuts" is an appropriate response.

I also use Frak and Gorram more than I think I should
