(TL;DR: Yep, I'm putting this at the top. I'll just copy and paste the actual discussion value: What were your obsessions and hobbies as a kid, what ancient relics are in your closet that make you think of the good' ol days? What ever happened to that gal/guy you had a crush on all those years ago?")
A few days ago, I bought Pokemon HeartGold, which is literally the first Pokemon game I've bought in almost ten years. (The last Pokemon game I owned was Crystal) Why I decided to get back into the series after so long is an entirely different story, but this game is really making me feel like a kid again. Pokemon was my major obsession for about the entire second half of elementary school, so hearing this redone music and seeing sprites of creatures that I haven't seen since I was 10 just feels so...unbelievable to me. I feel like I can pick up my phone and call my friend from the 4th grade that I haven't heard from in years just to ask if he wants to hang out. (Well okay, technically I CAN, but that would be a bit weird)
Now, I'm not making this thread so I can talk about Pokemon HeartGold, I want to know what you find nostalgic. What were your obsessions and hobbies as a kid, what ancient relics are in your closet that make you think of the good' ol days? What ever happened to that gal/guy you had a crush on all those years ago?
For me: Of course Pokemon is at the forefront. I always, and I mean always had a Game Boy Color glued to my face, likely while wearing a Pokemon shirt. I would come home from school just in time to watch the anime, I had at least two binders filled to the brim with Pokemon cards, the list goes on. Before Pokemon, my obsession was Beetleborgs. BTW, am I the only one who still remembers that show? It was somewhat popular at the time, but no one really talks about it anymore. I mean it was never on the same level of popularity as its sister show [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfOACVCOJsM], but judging by my huge basket of Beetleborg toys it couldn't have been obscure. Anyways, there's also Animaniacs and any of the other Spielberg-endorsed cartoons, the Playstation 1, the N64 (The Zelda and Banjo-Kazooie series in particular), and Sega systems in general also come to mind.
And finally...the smell of musty basements. I seriously wonder how many hours I spent in a friends' basement playing a SNES or N64. I was seemingly the only kid in town whose basement was just filled with junk and completely worthless as a play area.
Alright, I've rambled enough and I highly doubt anyone has actually read every word up to this point. I mainly just made this thread so I could type my thoughts down, but like I said earlier, what do YOU find nostalgic?
