No, this isn't another thread about that Dante's Inferno game. The name of the game is Damnation [http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/damnation/index.html], and it's coming out early next year for the Xbox, PS3, and PC. It's sort of a steampunk/western 3rd person shooter/platformer, and I think it looks pretty damn sweet (even though they practically stole an idea I had for a graphic novel D:). Has anyone else heard about this game, and if so, what do you think?

Looks cool, but the typicallity of the female character made me go "Ehhhh" and there is a notable lack-luster of colour. It's brown again.

I will be looking out for it.
Will it be on PC?
Yes, there will be a PC version.

Good points. I think the level design and mix of shooter action and acrobatics are the real draws, though. And the setting sounds pretty cool and unique (when it was IN MY BRAIN! Damn you, Blue Omega! *shakes fists*).

That got my attention. I should keep an eye on it. Although, of course, this says nothing for how well the implementation will go.

I saw it. Looked awesome, especially the multiplayer. I've always liked multiplayer games which reward creativity and guile. Especially when it means some pre-teen American is screaming in my ear because he didn't see me coming.

If only they could have gone Victorian instead of Western. I reckon the hero would have looked far more dapper in a top hat.

But yeah it sounds cool, I'll download it first to see if it's any good though.
Well, I couldn't find it. Are you sure you're not thinking about the Dante's Inferno game? (In which case did you read my first post?)

No I'm not. Believe me there was a thread about this before.
People were complaining about the girl using some skimpy dress cut out in the back, stupid I know.
Ok, sorry. But I really couldn't find another thread.

Anyway, previews have mentioned a Native American shamanism aspect, which sounds cool, but is not really apparent in any media so far. I'm curious what that will be like.

It looks fun, and there aren't enough games set in a steampunk-ish world. I haven't really been watching it too closely, as other games have been on my radar, but I've read a few previews and it sounds like it will have some interesting features. They keep hyping it as a "vertical shooter" and I'm curious to see exactly what this means.

...But the female character makes my eyes roll. It honestly IS hard for me to take a game seriously when the lead female character is wearing such a ridiculous outfit.

And people wonder why girls don't play games as much as guys.

Looks pretty generic to me; and what's with all the brown? I know it's a Western, but a bit more variety wouldn't go astray. For some reason Brute Force springs to mind.

Still, it could be fun.

It looks lame, but the colour palette makes sense if it takes place in a desert. Steam punk is just a recipe for failure and this game reeks of it.

In my opinion it was, art style was really stupid frankly not to mention the game was just boring as all hell. I've played games where you had powers etc and used guns that were more fun to look at and play. Making high-tech items look like something from the fifties does not automatically mean that they are cool or even remotely interesting. It's like simply using religious imagery for the sake of religious imagery. I'm still waiting for someone to try using Mayan or other Mezzo-American motifs in a big name game, as that might actually turn out to look interesting.

Oh yeah, I heard about this, isn't this the game with the female character who wears just the two flaps of clothing to cover her breasts instead of an actual vest?

Yes this is that game, don't understand the point of that. When I saw it I was like "uhhhhhhhhhh ok guys."

I remember watching a video about this the developer kept droning on and on about "verticality" so I turned it off. Looks dumb.

It looks good, but I hate having to turn my TV brightness up because of how dark a game is.
