Dante's Inferno: Rated M for Floppy Demon Wang

I really hope the gameplay lives up to the level of controversy.
Sadly, i'm tempted to think that they might've used the controversy as their sellign point (and their AWESOME promotion stunts) and not put as much effort into making the actual gameplay fun.

Anyway, none of this will stop Dante's Inferno being a rather average shameless God of War clone.

Just finished the demo. Oh my God! I don't mind a little plagerism (or however it is spelt), but this is a down right rip-off. It's GoW in Hell rather than Greek Mythology. Lets' see now:
1. The character looks the same
2. The character has a similar story arc of missing his wife and fighting his way through hell because of her
3. You press R1 and then something else at a green fountain for health or a blue one for mana
4. Button flash sequences at bigger monster Mortal Kombat deaths
5. A grab function which functions as a 1 hit kill button

I could go on, but I am worrid that this has all already been pointed out somewhere. Apologies if it has, but a rant always makes me feel better. I think I will be waiting for March and the GoW ultimate collection release.

After playing the demo, this doesn't seem to be a game that would have a sense of humor about itself. I don't think they would put the penis in to be funny.

well firstly i wasnt reffering to just DI there, i dont think you can call GTA4's serious or even necessary...

anyway...
after i finished playing the demo, i found it to be a very average H&S bore-fest... but i can never tell wether theyre trying to be intentionally funny, or they're actually trying to be serious... so i guess you would have me there...
but ahh well, its still just necessary imo... i dont think its any kind of new direction, i doubt well be seeing many males with realistic anatomies anytime soon... as much as id love to believe it.

That part of The Lost and Damned certainly wasn't trying to be serious. Still, it was a bit of a refresher that the bar was raised a little bit. Nonetheless, Dante's Inferno is different. I agree with your opinion on the demo. For lack of a better word, it sucked, but it certainly thinks highly of itself. In all of the media that comes out about it, the developers seem more and more pretentious.

This probably won't mean a sudden shift in what is determined appropriate, and it might not have any impact on the industry, but it does show that the shift exists. Eventually, a penis won't be taboo, just as boobs aren't (as) taboo anymore. Dante's Inferno is a nice reminder of that fact, if nothing else (and judging by the demo, it will be nothing else).

I'm going to stop this discussion line in here, because it's getting a bit too long.
