I just downloaded the demo and I have to say it is nothing like I expected. I love the Divine Comedy so I was expecting a major disappointment but it wasnt. I enjoyed the demo and the atmosphere in it is just amazing in a sick/disturbing way. The gameplay is pretty visceral an I would dare to say it will be a good competition for God of War3. Did you play and what are your opinions?

Well, I thought the entire God of War series was nothing special, so I don't think I will be buying Dante's Inferno.

I couldn't find it on the UK PSN after someone else brought it up about 3 hours ago, it's left me feeling rather left out, oh well.

I had a chance to check out the demo last night. I have to say that the degree to which they have butchered the integrity and intent of the original work, is just...astonishing to say the least.

That being said...

This is looking to be a great game. The visuals are (for the most part) great and often imaginative. The combat is solid and responsive. It plays incredibly smooth. Also, I had more fun with that demo, than the entirety of my experience with the first two God of War games. Normal difficulty seems a little on the easy side, so I suggest you bump it up if you're accustomed the GoW's 'Normal' setting.

I will say, though, I am not a fan of the game's 2d-animated "story sequences" that take place between chapters. The art and content is obnoxious and looks incredibly poor/amateurish compared to the full-cg sequences (this does not help when these scenes are run side-by-side) and in-game graphics. It reminds me of a rough version of the original HBO Spawn animation.

I havent really seen much on it other than a video or two so what im about to say is just guessing. The combat does look like it is straight from God of War with a few tweaks. This is not a bad thing as many companies over the course of gaming history have copied things that have worked and turned them into successes. However what God of War does that makes it stand apart is its use of puzzles. I will be interested to see if DI uses puzzles in the same way or does something different to set it apart. Either way if I owned a 360 only I would be very excited for this title. As I have a PS3 as well Ill be more hesitant to buy this instead of GoW3. However I think i might take a crack at the demo....

Played it last night. Pretty good, though it seems a little (actually, very) light on story, considering it's based off such a famous scripture. Still, combat's fun and responsive, and building combos feels very intuitive (especially once you get the cross.) And of course, fighting Death is always pretty cool.

I will reply only with: I hate you PSN users. Now someone come over with their PS3 so I can try the demo!

Dante's Inferno will not beat God of War 3. It just isn't going to happen.

However, I might still buy it.

Blimey, what's next, James Joyce's Ulysses: The Real Time Strategy

Urgh, why the hell not though. If Guy Richie can make a Sherlock Holmes action film, I'd guess our literary canon has already been raped beyond any notions of dignity.

I want to butcher a famous piece of work too!
Let's do 'Grapes of Wrath' except it's, like, you go across America to get to California and kill all the communists along the way.
