The life lessons brought to light by young miss Morgendorffer have stuck with me since they were first revealed in all their bleak glory.
Those of you who remember watching Daria can no doubt testify to the shows quality. It wasnt afraid to make grim realisations or snarky, sarcastic remarks that its young viewers could probably use on their parents later. It wasnt afraid to present typical teen life in all its infuriatingly dreary grandure. No, the show, like its main character, was honest, realistic, and very clever.
I've been re-watching a bunch of the old episodes and simply cant get enough. It reminded me of how it has helped shape me into the kind of person I am today. It is extremely well structured and makes the perfect appropriate use of all its character archetypes to illustrate each episodes point.
So what are some of your favorite Daria moments? I dont just mean lines from Daria herself or Sick Sad World headlines either. Favorite characters, favorite sneaky little subtleties, favorite episode and why?
I personally really like observing Quinn. She may be a snotty brat on the surface, but eventually it becomes abundantly apparant that she's only acting that way for fear of being isolated and unloved, her natural flair and inability to master anything else other than the social pecking order ends up just trapping her in an unfair and kind of tragic possision.
Anyway thats just me, share some of your favorite moments or aspects of Daria.
