Now I know the majority of us on this forum are jaded pessimists when it comes to new mmos (thanks to the likes of yahtzee). But, are there any of you out there looking forward to Dark Millennium? And if you are, what's something you'd really like to see in the game?

Personally Id like to see a Space Marine chapter other than the Ultramarines. Maybe one of the ones that came from a legion with some shadow to it, like Dark Angels and the Blood Angels, or maybe the Salamanders or Raven Guard. The White Scars are to obscure to really care about and the Space Wolves, Imperial Fists and Iron Hands are to "straight up and down" to really be interesting.

As far as the Chaos Marines I'm going to bet on them putting in either the Word Bearers, Iron Warriors or Sons of Horus/Black Legion. Cause them picking a legion devoted to one of the Chaos Gods would prolly be to limiting in character classes.

As far as the others we already can figure out what the match ups are going to be: Eldar vs Dark Eldar, Imperial vs Orks, Space Marine vs Chaos Space Marine.

Night Lords. Fething Night Lords. They're chaos united so a player can access any chaos god's favor and raptors are incredibly awesome. Plus they're the only thing that can put the fear of god into a space marine (seen in the Ultramarines omnibus).

It would be hard for them to mess up with the Chaos Marines unless they go with the Emperor's Children, bunch of purple dandies.

Id prefer the Tau for an alien race but I can imagine them getting a bunch of bad press about space communists teaching us "the greater good." Though I definitely see them doing Eldar/Dark Eldar match up just like in Warhammer Online. I just wonder if they are going to pick a certain craftworld.

Well if they did it's probably be a throwdown between Ulthwe, Alatoic and Biel-Tan.

I dont see them putting in the Tyranids or Necrons as playable factions. I see them more as big bad npc factions in the way that WoW has their little build up events when they decide to do a new end game raid dungeon.

Example: the pcs investigate reports of people vanishing or cities disapearing only to find the beginings of a Tyranid invasion. We then have to fight off the increasing number of npc Tyranids in ever increasing waves. Then at the end of the event attacking the hive fleat and possibly fighting a Norn Queen or a Hive Mind.

I could see that happening, but there's even less peaceful cooperation in WH40K than there is in WoW, even after things got worse in the latter.

That is true, but the Tyranid and Necron threat are a galaxy wide problem. Now I dont see the "evil" factions really working together for a common good. But the "good" factions do have a better chance of working together to end the Tyranid threat. So lets just imagine while the good sides are temporarily united and working to end the Tyranid threat the Chaos Marines get to launch a minor Black Crusade, the Dark Eldar get to launch larger raids on Eldar Craftworlds/Imperial outposts and the Orks get to do whatever "makin it orky" means.

Now I know it isnt exactly balanced but 3 sides fighthing on somewhat of a united front should stand a better chance against 4 individual factions possibly fighting each other as much as they would fight the good guys.

It doesn't work like that in WH40K. The Imperium of Man will never work with xenos, regardless of circumstances, and the Eldar know it. The Tau will only work with you if you agree to serve the Greater Good. Really, of all the "factions" that would be likely to work with each other, the Dark Eldar and Chaos Marines are most likely to do so as a means to an end, with that end being a bloody coup from either side.

Fine, ruin my optimistic outlook for the grim dark future where there is only war.
