Anyone know how i could get the old classic running on an XP system?

Also this would be a good place to discuss the game =D

First of all, Dark Omen is one of the most awesome RTS games ever! Shadow of the Horned Rat was more challenging, but Dark Omen is better balanced.

As for making it work on XP, it CAN be done. I've done it myself. However, it's a trial-and-error affair. Essentially, you can't run it in full settings. You need to try to lower certain things in the options menu. I played around with various settings combinations for about 30 minutes until I got it right...

Hm: a game that old, I think you may have to go with DOS Box http://www.dosbox.com/ The good news is that it's free, so you can try it and if it doesn't work for you, you're just out your time.

If you right-click on an Icon in XP and click 'properties', on one of the tabs there should be a Compatibility Mode where you can run as Win95 or 98 on the 'Compatability' tab. But that's kinda quirky.

This is the best, and often the only, way to do that. DOS games run almost flawlessly on DosBox, only sometimes there are sound problems.
