Well, I never played much of Demon's Souls. For some reason, I had trouble getting into it. But something about Dark Souls I just love. The game is phenomenal. I was wondering though, what are your favorite sections and how far are you?

Current Soul Level?
Favorite/Least Favorite Area?
Favorite/Least Favorite Normal Enemy?
Favorite/Least Favorite Boss?(Hardest/Easiest if that fits better.)
Current Class/Gear?

Don't have to answer all of it, just what you feel like sharing.
Also, if there are any interesting stories you have, feel free to share those as well.

As for me-
Lvl- 43(I got a late start.)
Fav Area- Darkroot Basin(Not a whole lot of difficulty, and I love how the area looks.)
Hated Area- Catacombs(Between the 6 Necromancers that regenerate skeletons, the traps, the odd jumps to collect everything and the very obnoxious enemies....just...no...)
Fav Enemy- Rats(Easy Humanity farming? Hell yea.)
Hated Enemy- Skeletons(All the work to kill the blasted things, and they give no souls. They come at you in groups, and have some very annoying varieties. The steroid cats in Darkroot Gardens are up there too.)
Hardest Boss- Stray Demon(I mainly say this because the start to the fight is so hard. That fall is a large handicap and it took me awhile to get the hang of it.)
Easiest Boss- Moonlight Butterfly/Taurus Demon(Tie here, both were a cinch. Crest shield makes the butterfly cake and the Taurus Demon...they were nice enough to put a ladder there. Climb, Fall Attack, repeat.)
Current Gear- Started as a Knight but I lightened my equipment a bit later. I don't cast at all.
Weapon: Gravelord Sword
Ranged: Short Bow
Shield: Black Knight Shield
Helm: Elite Knight Helm
Chest: Elite Knight Armor
Hands: Hard Leather Gloves
Feet: Black Leather Boots
Ring 1: Havel's Ring
Ring 2: Ring of the Evil Eye

My funny stories involve my never-ending hunt for the drops from the mini-bosses. Namely the Armored Tusk and Black Knight. The Armored Tusk I found died in one hit...by accident. I went to go attack it's face and then when I hit attack I was behind it, backstabbing it. I sat there for a good 2 minutes going "....what?" The other bit was fighting the last Black Knight I could immediately access at the time. I was doing fairly well...when all of a sudden he did a side-dodge about 20 feet and fell into a ravine. I was about to bash my head against a wall.

I'm looking forward to hearing from the people who are inevitably much farther than I am.

I've stopped playing for various reasons, but I'll try my best to remember. (Hint: One of them is because on NG+, enemies have their stats boosted by 300% and bosses get 500%. FIGHTING FATBOY AND SLIM IS A NIGHTMARE.)

Current Soul Level? 127

Favorite/Least Favorite Area? Undead Burg for favorite, and a tie between Blighttown, Tomb of the Giants, and Lost Izalith for most hated area.

Favorite/Least Favorite Normal Enemy? I like the large Knights in Undead Burg. Least favorite enemy...the zombie T-rex things in Lost Izalith.

Favorite/Least Favorite Boss? Easiest boss? All of them except for one. Bosses are way too easy in this game. Hardest boss? GWYNDOLIN. I have no ranged attacks at all, you see.

Current Class/Gear? Hunter, I have a Gravelord +5, Dragon Greatsword +4, Havel's Greatshield +10, and Havel's set with Havel's Ring and Ring of Favor and Protection.

haven't been play too much right now so I'm not far in yet

Level 36
currently in Blighttown trying to kill Quelaag
Fav enemy: Leeches, for the easy titanite
Hated enemy: Ghouls
Fav Boss: Gaping Dragon
Hated Boss: Quelagg
Class: Knight, will include miracle usage into setup soon
Gear: Knight Helm +3
Knight Armor +3
Knight Gauntlets +3
Knight leggings +3
Longsword +10
Knight Shield +5
Winged Spear +5
Heavy Crossbow +4
Blue Tearstone Ring
Ring Of Evil Eye

Funny Story: Ran out of Crossbow Bolts in Blighttwon in the swamp area, so I turned around to go buy more. I got close to the first Blighttown bonfire and was killed by 3 Ghouls and 2 Dogs that came out nowhere. Made my way back up there and died again before I could get to my bloodstain and lost around 9000 souls, my ammo budget (not gonna skimp out on ammo again.), and 4 humanity. Tears ensued. Metaphorically.

Good news was that that one rat that hangs around inside that aqueduct near Firelink Shrine dropped a humanity

I just bought it today and it's fun, but not really having a terribly easy time.
Soul level is 15 or 16 I think.
I don't really have a favorite area or enemy since I've been playing for so short a time (just reached Undead Parish).
Of course at this point I've only fought the Asylum and Taurus Demons, but out of those two I'll go with the Taurus Demon, mostly based on design.
Since I don't really know how the game works yet I haven't bought any new armor and have the default set for a Knight. Right now I'm just trying to get one more point of dexterity to be able to actually use a bow so I can shoot the bridge dragon's tail for the Drake Sword.

In the Undead Parish, there is a blacksmith. When you find him, go into the room beside him and run around the Titanite Demon. (Be sure to roll if it jumps).

Once in the Darkroot Garden, follow the path (Killing four tree things on the way). To the left of the magical door is a fake wall. (Hit it and use the bonfire there). Continue following the path. In the next area, you'll see an item thing to your right. That is the Elite Knight set. (Upgraded version of what you have now.)

Be warned though, grabbing the armor activates an ambush that you most likely will not survive.

So would it be advisable to go ahead and do that when I have no souls so there's not any real negative consequences?

Pretty much, yes.

I am LOVING this game, currently on my first NG+ and still loving every second of it.

Class: Pyromancer
Current SL: 83
Favourite area: Sens fortress, I just love all the traps and the general feel of the area.
Least favourite area: Hmm, Blight Town, Tomb of the Giants and Lost Izalith. Those places suck.
Favourite enemy: Probably the Crystal Lizards, I love finding those.
Least favourite enemy: Those....THINGS in Lost Izalith, in the lava area, the nightmares!
Favourite boss: Probably Havel the Rock (he's fun to fight) and Quelaag because she's so simple.
Least favourite boss: The Hellkite Dragon (The one on the bridge)or Bed of Chaos.
Gear: Mothers Mask
Gold Hemmed Chest
Havel's Legs
Black Knight Gauntlets
Eagle Shield
Quelaag's Furysword/Gravelord Sword
Pyromancer Flame
Ring of Fog
Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring

My current setup allows me fast movement, decent defense and when my 64 Combustions and 4 Chaos Fireballs fail me, I got my swords to fall back on.

My advice to new players is that no matter how hard a boss or area may seem, do not give up, there is ALWAYS a trick to beating it. So try out new tactics and don't rush in expecting to win.

Also, always get Pyromancy, even if you are not planning to use magic, it doesn't scale off any stats, just the Pyromancy Flame weapon, so you wont need to waste levels powering it up and you will be able to breeze through some areas.

My soul level is 80 at the moment, in NG+
Favorite/Least Favorite Area? My favorite area? Anor Londo, that place just looks cool. My least favorite has got to be the tomb of the giants, pitch black and annoying enemies.
Favorite/Least Favorite Normal Enemy? The blue drakes are my favorite, least favorite would have to be the armored skeletons in new londo.

My favorite boss...hands down Gwyn Lord of Cinder, mostly due to his boss music, where most every other boss has grandiose orchestral music with chanting in the background, Gwyn's is very subtle, calm, and peaceful, and possibly my favorite track off the soundtrack. My least favorite is without question Ornstien and Smough, seriously fuck those guys...

Current Class/Gear? My class stated out as a wanderer, I saw it as a nice mix of a fast character with good armor. My favorite gear would be a tie between the gold rimmed black robes that make you look like a nazgul, and the black knight armor you find at the end of the game. Favorite weapon at the moment is the black knight greataxe, even in NG+ it still deals out crazy damage.

I just beat the game, and I don't remember my stats, but I can tell you one thing, running around with 50k souls trying to find a bonfire, DYING, and trying to get back to those souls, will make your heart beat so fast....

Favorite boss: Pinwheel, I killed him in about 2 shots... I was like wut?
Least Favorite: Ornstein and Smough, they can go screw eachother.
Current weapon: Black knight halberd+5 with 50 str
Fav enemy: Maybe the black knights at the end? Come to me my precious titanite shards...
Least fav enemy: Dino skeletons in lost izalith
Fav Zone: I really liked anor londo.
Least Fav zone: Crystal Caves

Bump :D

Current Soul Level: Around 40, I believe.

Favorite/Least Favorite Area: Undead Burg was pretty fun. Blight town made me turn off the game.

Favorite/Least Favorite Normal Enemy: I love the undead that rather stare into a wall than attack me. Least favorite would have to be the trolls in Blighttown. One hit and I'm almost dead.

Favorite/Least Favorite Boss: Haven't killed that many bosses yet, but my favorite would have to be Capra demon. Once I figured out how to use the stairs it was pretty easy. Least favorite are the gargoyles. Easy once I summoned that knight to help out, but solo it was impossible.
Not too fond of the Gaping Demon boss either. I got it down on my first attempt, but it took forever.

Current Class/Gear: Pyromancer with the starting armor. Got no rings so far. Use a dark heater shield and Drake sword. Considering to start over with a knight though. I've hardly used my pyromancy skills at all so far.

Current Soul Level? 83

Favorite Area: Undead Burg. Just the whole area was cool. Though my favourite scene of the whole game was seeing Anor Londo for the first time. Breath taking.

Least Favorite Area? Blight Town. That. Place. SUX. Mostly due to frame rate issues, but the poison isn't fun either.

Favorite Enemy: Dark Knights. Those guys were always the best challenge, and just the type of fight I like. Circling each other, shields raised, taking jabs and slashes when able.

Least Favorite Normal Enemy? Probably those Harpy things in Anor Londo, or maybe Lizard Men. Neither are very hard, they just annoyed the shit out of me.

Favorite Boss: They were all pretty epic, but probably Smough and Ornstein. Those guys were INSANE. The Iron Golem and Stray Demon would be a close next.

Least Favorite Boss? Hmm... well none gave me major trouble, but if I had to choose I'd have to say the Halfbreed scythe chick from the Painted World. She wasn't hard persay, it just I was complete Knight, and therefore had no spells at all, meaning I couldn't cast fireball and make her visible again. So I had no idea how much damage I had to do to kill her. And when it seemed like I was getting close, she'd always hit me with a few bleeding attacks in a row at the most inoppurtune moments, meaning instant death when the bar filled. So not fair. Gah.

Current Class/Gear? I was 100% pure Tank. Wearing all of Smoughs armour, the unique Shield made with a boss soul, and a maxed out (+10 standard, +5 lightning) Halbred. Halbred, or any ranged weapon in that game, is god. I breezed my way through the game, or at least it felt like it compared to what other people seem to be experiencing. I almost felt like I cheated in some way, so next time I play I'll make a harder class. Perhaps a light armoured one with a small weapon.

Funny story: Pretty much any time I've been invaded, people seem to underestimate my Halbred and shield combo (which i had for roughly 95% of the game). They'd charge in, attack, then roll away, expecting me to lunge and miss. What my tactic actually involved was waiting for them to get sloppy and beginning hammering away at me constantly, at which point I'd just press "parry", and BAM. Insta-death. I love the few seconds they get to realise their mistake as I smash their shield away, then thrust 6 foot of death-tipped pole through their chest. Epic.

I did get owned a few times by spell casters, and the odd person wielding a weapon so large it simply overwhelmed me. But majority either fell for parry, or I took out in one or two lunges later when my Lightning enhancements were active. Good times.

Overall I loved the game, far more then I did Demon's Souls (though now I've finished Dark Souls I plan to go back and kick that games arse). It's also the best game ever to talk about. Meet another person who's played Dark Souls, you can literally sit and talk for hours about what you've found, what you're wearing, how you defeated this enemy, what strategies work etc. Just like we're doing now!
I'm so glad games like this exist, made for the proper hardcore gamer and not trying to pander to everyone, like so many games do nowadays. When I run out of stuff to play in the future, I really look forward to playing it again sometime.

Soul level: ~100 (on second playthrough)

Favorite Area: Painted World of Ariamis, once unlocking the main gate shortcut the hoplite-slug-hollow-things are almost as good for grinding as the forest hunters area and without the cheapness.

Hated Area: The Great Hollow, im not a fan of vertical levels to begin with, and considering the nature of this game i took this area as one huge dick move. Did find a nice ring though.

Favorite Mook: Baldur Knights (longsword), theyre so recklessly agressive with thier heavy attacks i dont even have to dodge to get behind them for a backstab.

Hated Mook: The Tentacle things in Lost Isalith, purely because they destroy equipment easier than everything else in the game, regardless of how easy it is to dodge.

A close second goes to Titanite Demons, due to thier insane defence to everything thats not lightning.

Favorite boss: The first Taurus Demon. In second playthrough with the benefit of upgraded and very powerful weapons such as the Black Knights Greatsword +5 and 35-ish soul levels of strengh allowed me to one hit the bastard with a DMC-style Helmbreaker.

Hated boss: Ornstien and Smough. Everyone who has made it this far knows what im talking about.

Character info:
Armor: Black Iron set, best defensive armor i can currently run about in with my current endurance without Havels Ring.

Natrually i also use Havels armor for when im doing the Iron Flecsh tactic.

Weapons: I normally prefer spears, i have fire, lightning and divne variants. I also secondary with bows so i can lure my victims in for a one on one fight, which suits spear users to the ground.

Also use (ultra) greatswords when i feel like being overkill, or for massive damage while doing Iron Flesh.

Greatshields are preferred by me for thier higher stability, but i also hold the Crystal Ring Shield for its... game breaking offensive abilities.

My funny stories? Maybe so far my character has survived every single grapple attack from any enemy you can bother to name, this includes getting impaled by Giant Ornstien and eaten by Gaping Dragon. Iron Flesh and Havels armor makes for hilarious survival tales.
