So, his only point was "People who primarily play games on a PC would probably enjoy it, so they should get it.".

I bet people that primarily game on an NES would probably enjoy it, too. PETITION TO HAVE DARK SOULS MADE FOR NES!!

I really couldn't care less about your choice of platform or why you chose it, but if you want a company to spend money on something for you, you've got to come up with a better reason than "I think people will buy it and like it.".
I don't think there needs to be any more reason than that, if people buy it they make lots of money from it and if people like it there's a chance they'll earn fans who will spend hundreds more on their other games.
A few too many ifs in there to be worth the money it would take to port and tweak it for PC.

At the moment of writing this over 27,000 people have said they want the game and if it was sold at a base price of £35 that means Namco Bandai would make over £950,000; and this is just day two of the petition.

I honestly think he is eating his cake, he goes on and on and on about PC's being so much better in every conceivable way and then does a complete 180 and says "but console gaming is fine as well" ... wait, what? I think he just says it so he doesn't get hate mail spammed at him about him being an elitist.

Which I get, he plays his watchers very well but he does let his elitism shine through a lot. Just listen to that vid about why the game should be on PC again, "only PC gamers will truly appreciate the game" if that's not elitism I don't know what is.
Hmm, understandable point of view. Maybe I don't see it because consoles are nothing of interest to me (no consoles, no TV). What I always get from his videos is that he mostly keeps harping on the hardware side of PC superiourity where he actually has a point but never dismisses console gaming as a valid form of gaming.

But yeah, this is basically we both agreeing that he has a higher view on PC gaming but not agreeing on the actual height.

@video: can you roughly say when he said it? If not, gonna hear through it later and maybe comment on this line myself.
He says it once at 2:50 and I think he says it more forcefully later on but I can't be bothered to watch it all the way through.

Just before 2:50 he goes on about how much better PC is than console and like I have said before about cars, he states the obvious that every gamer knows like only PC gamers know it and he is trying to educate us lowly console gamers to the superior gaming system.

Edit, 9:39 is where he says it again.

Whoops, was meant to put this an edit on my last post!
I think of it like mobile games.

Mobile games are fine. They're not graphically brilliant, they're technically inferior to consoles and PCs in every single way, yet the games are fine on them it's perfectly possible to enjoy yourself and there's even a couple that provide a very good experience.

It's the same with consoles.

Technically, they're inferior, but, that doesn't stop them being just as viable a gaming platform as the PC.

No offence but you sound like TB, every serious gamer knows technically PC is better than console, just as console is technically better than mobile.

So why tell me that again? Not having a go at you but it's what TB does. Like "did you know the worlds fastest car is technically better than a ford focus?" well yeah, it's obvious.

Does it have more powerful parts? Yes. Are they engineered better? Yes. Does it run smoother? Yes, so it's obviously better, telling me more it's better is just making him sound more and more elitist.

Like a kid in a playground who has a 99 in 1 tamagotchi boasting about it to the kids who only have a dog or cat. Of course the 99 in 1 is better but there is no need to keep listing why, it's obvious.

Hope I don't come across as too mean ...

I just said it for the sake of orchestrating a point to be honest.

But, I was more talking about how consoles are PC are viable platforms, but for a lot of people not the same experience.

As to why PC gamers bring up the element so much, I don't really know. I suppose when asked "Why are the positions of the platform" it's kinda implied that you have to answer that with "It's technically better". It's kinda the main selling point.

maybe it's 'cos I am so much more used to a controller than a mouse but it gave me more freedom, I had to think MUCH less about where the camera was in relation to Ezio.

(is Ezio starting to become a really good name for an English kid or what? haha)
I think it's exactly that, like you with the PC I probably use the console 1/4 of the time and I have the same problems you do when using keyboard and mouse.

(Ezio is a pretty cool name regardless of nationality)

27,000 signatures =/= 27,000 guaranteed sales. Plenty of people in this thread signed while stating that they're not getting it. Then there are the people that can't afford it, and the people that just decide they don't want it when it comes out.

27,000 signatures may as well be none, because none of them are guarantees.

Yeah, but there are also would be people that would buy it that didn't sign the petition, either because they didn't know about it (most gamers don't go on gaming sites all that often) or because they were to lazy or unable to sign it. I'm sure that if this game was promoted well enough on PC, it would sell quite a lot.

I'm not sure if you're serious, a petition isn't a census of all your potential customers.
Statistically for every moron who bother signing a petition you have *at very least* other 10 or 20 persons interested in that thing/product/whatever.

Most people own a television for some reason besides gaming, so purchasing one might not be necessary. Purchasing a HDTV certainly isn't necessary if you genuinely don't care about graphics, which is one of the reasons somebody might choose a console over a PC.

So if we assume that you already own a TV, then a new PS3 with a 160 GB hard drive will cost you $250 total.

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?rlz=1C1TSNO_enUS463US464&q=ps3+price&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=746476354484601806&sa=X&ei=wd4HT46xE-ry0gGjv7SKBw&ved=0CG4Q8wIwAg

If you want a 360 with a 120 GB hardrive, plus a headset, that'll only run you $200

I'm not going to argue whether PCs or consoles are superior, but in my experience consoles tend to be cheaper, even when I priced individual parts. Maybe I'm using the wrong search engines, though.
When you game on an SDTV it's about much more than just graphics (which I did for years). Have you ever tried to read the text?

It makes text heavy games nigh unplayable. Mini maps and even maps, the icons are damn near impossible to read.

This goes far beyond just visuals.

And I use my computer for far more than gaming too. I think it's safe to say I use my computer for a lot more than I use my TV/console.

Am I supposed to accept that as fact with no references or information on where you obtained that statistic?

I could say that for every person that wants it, there are at least 87.8 billion people that don't.

I already have this game on 360, but I still vote for bringing it to PC. I wouldn't want any of our PC brethren to be left out of this game (which I personally prefer to Skyrim, flameshields actived). Kinda lame that I never got to play Demons Souls for cause I don't own a PS3.

why not just get a ps3? You can get one for the price of a decent ram upgrade
Cause people don't want a PS3; they don't care about it, they don't feel the need for it, etc.

They just want a chance to enjoy the game on PC.

Do you know anything about business? It's called market research, maybe everyone won't buy the game but it's a good fucking estimate.

If we lived by the logic 'if it's not guaranteed don't try it' we'd still be living in caves without even the benefit of fire because trying to start one might not work so it's not worth even trying.

hahah i think its great that the elitist pc crowd miss out on awesome games like this.

Dark Souls is my personal game of the year.

i own a PC, and an Xbox, but i dont feel the need to tell anyone and everyone why one is superior than the other.

get off your high horse and buy a console :)
So you're not an elitist, you just want everyone to own a console instead, rather than support an initiative to get a superb game on more platforms than it currently is?

And I'm meant to be the jerk PC gamer...

I mean fuck, this is the problem with console exclusives in general. PC is left in the dark from some amazing experiences. Likewise PC has some games of its own, and it's a shame console players don't get to play them. The STALKER and Witcher series are excellent, and deserve to be on consoles (It's a massive shame that they aren't), as much as Dark Souls should have a PC release too.

Get of YOUR high horse and help get Dark Souls on everything! Then we wouldn't have to complain when excellent games come out for consoles and not the PC. The PC platform has support for much higher quality visuals (Compare Battlefield 3 on 360/PS3 to even a sub-par gaming rig and it's simply better in so many ways), larger numbers of online players, and mods! Imagine what modders would be capable of doing if they could mod Dark Souls. Fuck it, help us even more by requesting an end to console exclusive games whenever you get the chance to.

And anyway, you're an XBox player? Consider yourself lucky you got Dark Souls, since you don't have Demon's Souls. The withering PS3 fanboy in me wants to scream and laugh in your face before it coughs its last to the mighty (and if Steam's data is to be trusted, currently EXPONENTIALLY BOOMING) PC fanboy crying out for a Dark Souls PC release.

I'd buy it if they released it on the PC. I haven't played demon souls or dark souls but all the talk about the really high difficulty has intrigued me. Sadly, I don't own a consolea nd I don't know anyone who owns the game,so I can't play it.
I've seen a lot of activity about this on many different forums. It seems like there really is quite a big demand for this, enough to justify porting the game to the PC. Hopefully From Software sees that two.
