Dark Souls Question

I was in Anor Londo at the most annoying part in the game (the 2 Knight archers on the tiny ledge), and something very unusual happened. I was in New Game+ in human form going up the bit that leads to between the two when there was something there. It was a crystal like crab thing.

Anyone else have that happen or am I going insane?

I've only encountered one in about 120+ hours of playtime.

I suppose I did mean a vagrant. I have only seen the one and have never since seen or heard of them. It really annoyed me because it is in among the most bullshit parts of the game.
