I downloaded the Dark Void demo yesterday and I had fun with it, the flying is quite hard to master, but once you do it's really fun. However, the demo was one level from the game, and to be honest, I can't see the other levels being any different from the one I played, and I think it will be repetitive.
What were your impressions from the demo?

*EDIT* I just found out from play.com that Dark Void is only £29.99. That's a good price for a new game!

Well from the sound of it, if it is fun and repetitive, isn't that a winning combo?

I'd love to try out this demo, I've been on the fence with Dark Void.

I was impressed. I've liked what I've seen in trailers and such so far, and the demo has done a good job in concreting my decision to purchase it. The control for performing manoeuvres is a little awkward for my tastes - but some comprises have to be made I guess.

A game being repititive isn't really a valid complaint in my opinion, by definition a game is repititive in the sense that it is classifiable in a genre. Not to mention there is a core control scheme/gameplay mechanic in all games.

The formula works in this case, so I shall be indulging.
I suppose you have a point, but I want it to have replay value.

*EDIT* Sorry for the double post, i thought somebody had posted while I was away.

It's even cheaper on some websites. I've seen the PC Version + Pre-order Bonus for £18.

Yeah, but that was the 360 version. And 360 games cost more than PC games usually.

I played the demo also... In all honesty I think the game is crap, aerial combat is fiddly and the shooting sections on the ground are done a lot better in other games.

Yes, I'd end up getting the PS3 version anyway, which usually has the same pricing as 360, but still, £18 is cheap even for a brand-new PC game.

I suppose Capcom don't see this being a big hit?

Well they have got Lost Planet 2 and Dead Rising 2 coming out, which are both gonna sell really well. Dark Void is probably gonna be ignored.

Ariel combat isn't fiddly, it just takes time to get the hang of it. If you use all the things it tell you to it's really easy, such as braking, using maneuvers, and using one of the buttons to look at the nearest enemy. But I agree, the shooting section was crap.

Aerial combat would have been a lot better in my eyes if you were fighting other guys with jetpacks, otherwise it just feels like a fighter jet sim.

It looked pretty good from the trailers, and I've been keeping an eye out for it for a while now., but I played the demo the other day. The flying controls seem a little too fidly for me to have to use them for most of the game. I can see myself getting annoyed, which would take away from enjoying the game

It seems alright, I've been following it since its first announcement but my interest has waned as of late and I already have so many games on reserve in the coming months, let alone games I've yet to beat. I doubt I'll buy it when it comes out but I'll probably try to play it at some point.

As for the demo, once i got a hang of the flying it was pretty fun, and it does remind me of the excellent Crimson Skies game on original XBOX, which is good. Though I do think the turning mechanic worked better on a xbox controller rather than the 360. The gun fighting was interesting though they didn't show any of the vertical gunfights which is what I'm really interested in.

I just got to play it now.

I don't know quite what, but the ground combat clicked with me in a way that Uncharted 2 didn't. Other than the annoying left stick waggling QTEs. The aerial combat needed a little getting used to, and it was mainly alright.

It feels like a TPS and a flight sim mixed together, and the flight sim controls like balls.

Also, its a cock tease showing a boss and cutting off the demo, you shouldnt do it.

I hope that wasn't a boss, more of just a powerful foe, because in the 'End demo screenshots' it shows at least two of them in the same picture, which is a sin if they are bosses.
