Dark Void's Pre-Order Bonus Changes the Game

Sounds like you get an infinite boost cheat as the preorder bonus. I doubt you get to use that in multiplayer and such massive bonuses have a tendency to ruin games anyway so you're better off turning the thing off (of course if people use it liberally that means they'll get bored of the game faster and trade it in earlier and then we have a developer more whining about used sales...).

No, no, no. Golden weapons is one thing (helps to single out the people who camped for it), but an item which effects gameplay? This is more or less the buy your own weapons on Bad company, but for single player, and what happens when you destory everyone, because you have infinte boost.

Mind you, I bet it'll turn achivements off or something.

My assumption is that it locks achievements, essentially not "breaking the game" as before. (same as if the game had god mode)

That does seem like overkill, but it's probably one of the most ingenious pre-order bonuses I've seen in a while. A shame I haven't paid Dark Void much mind, and don't really intend to.

The game seems interesting but I'm not interested in a golden jet pack. This advertisement make me feel like I lose 80% of my IQ.

i actually think its a good idea, it shouldn't affect gameplay too much after all

I predict this will be available in the normal game but as an unlockable. It seems like Gamestop are offering to bypass this playing time. Erm... I'm buying the game to play it, not to cheat.

How different would Goldeneye be if the Golden Gun cheat was available from the outset and didn't affect completion status? Very. And not for the better.

Anyone else sick of gamestop? They monopolize content, but you also have to preorder it. If everyone that ever wanted to play a particular game preordered it asap, they would never have enough to supply the demand for the games let alone the goodies. Each of you has no doubt heard at least 6 horror stories about people not getting their bonus stuff, or more likely had it happen to you.

Its almost laughable how often you also see threads created by (I assume) gamestop employees offering to sell 10 or 30 codes for this or that each month.

The bigger question is who exactly are they competing with? It may be a different story elsewhere, but in my area the only dedicated game retailer is gamestop. Not counting Gamecrazy because its like comparing a fruit stand to a supermarket.

So they own EB, they have no real competition for game retail, and yet they go out of there way to pay for loads of exclusive content. Some of it becomes DLC, but things like the gigawatt blades in Infamous are still out of my reach for now because I actually wanted to wait for positive feedback on the game before shelling out $ at a store I despise. Not that I need them or even know what they are, just an example.

They also like to charge 5 or 10 dollars extra for key titles, and they aren't CE or special in anyway.

I get my games on Amazon whenever possible. Mostly because I get my games factory sealed, instead of an already opened, fingerprint covered used game sold to me at full price. Or in the case of Izuna IT ALREADY HAD A SAVED GAME IN THE DAMN CARTRIDGE! /rant

Slightly off topic but I never got why Seinfeld was funny.

Also this hasn't convinced me to buy it, having unlimited boost will surely diminish the challenges even if you say "just don't use it" how will you know when realistically it would have run out. There's probably an option to turn it off but it seems pointless to me
