Wondering if anyone has picked up this game yet. The atmosphere and writing is amazing and very reminiscent of Lovecraft. The gameplay is brutal, but it seems they already put out a patch nerfing two of the biggest threats that I've run into, so that should help some. But the Brigands are rare enemy types early game anyway, so it might not actually change all that much.

For those who have the game, has anyone gotten very far? I've finished two quests, but most of the time I get near the end and then something terrible happens. Enemy gets crazy lucky/I get unlucky, stress hits the breaking point and causes my party to flip out, or I ran into a squad of Brigand Fusiliers... (One of the enemy types that got nerfed coincidentally). Any party suggestions? I've had the most success with Vestal, Occultist, Bounty Hunter, Crusader/Hellion depending on the area so far. But keeping that team together is pretty hard because of the whole stress mechanic. And I have yet to use Leper or Man-at-Arms, so eh.

I've got it, but I've yet to try it out, due to forgetting that it was available >_>. I've been on a bit of a rougelike kick at the moment, so I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it tonight after work. I'll reply again after I've played a bit.

I find I can't do more than one or two missions at a time due to the IRL stress of the game XD

I'm enjoying it so far. I just beat the first boss and am on week 5 I think. A lot of close calls, but I haven't actually lost anyone yet. The Occultist's heal is super RNG, but it has saved my ass a dozen times already.

I'm on the fourth week right now. I've lost a grand total of three people, twp from a mission that went bad and one where I wanted to keep exploring when I had already accomplished the objective. Stress affected tons of my people and I've been throwing cash around like crazy for all the gambling, drinking and whoring they do to come back. Also my starting crusader can only relieve stress through prayer...but when he went to the church something happened that made him refuse to go back. So he's gonna go nuts soon. And he's my strongest hero.

YAY!

I cleared the first mission tonight, more by chance than better judgement. First party was a complete loss, didn't take enough food or torches with me, ended up starving and freaking out which lead to a party wipe. Second trip went better, took more food and torches and a couple shovels, but hit a few bad encounters and lost two guys before bailing. The third party was much more successful. Still lost a guy, though.

I'm not too worried about party composition just yet. I'm still trying to feel my way through the game as it stands. That can come later, all I'm looking for atm is warm bodies.

That game is brutal. I went on a mission to kill the Apprentice Necromancer, and my whole party wiped. Turns out, having a lot of ranged characters is a good choice here, my party of a Vestal, Plague Doctor, Highwayman and Crusader was a pretty poor choice for this one, especially when my Plague Doctor and Highwayman died.

I am playing to build an A team. I my goal is one of every class pumped up and the reserve are running mission to help me afford this. I run a big mission with my core four then send out newbies with ok to crap supplies based on their goal. If they are on a money run they go until I am happy with the cash then get pulled out, they get no supplies. An upgrade run is meant to upgrade the newbies and the manor so they get base supplies.

I did try a double vestal back row. It was fun but the fights took longer. I think I needed my front two to be melee and have better skills.

I have only removed negative traits from my A team if they limit me.

How much is there to do? I'm certainly interested but am weary of buying into early access, don't want to drop £15 on one hours worth of game on the promise there might be more later.

From the looks of things, the endgame isn't available as of now, but there are 3 different areas and 10 classes available at the moment. When you factor in each area's quest chains and the difficulty of the game, it should keep you going for a decent length of time.

fuck me this game is challenging...

anyway, really awesome little thing, totally digging the grave robber atm, pretty handy having a class that moves around while attacking, means she can reposition your party if the enemies mess it up. Currently I'm rolling (from back to front) Vestal-Grave Robber-Crusader-Hellion, with vestal being the main party healer. trying to build up two solid teams, but keep getting the same classes and want a bit more variety =\

edit: anybody tried using lepers yet? I looked at their skills and was not too impressed... am I missing something?

I heard this one was confirmed for a ps4/vita release so they now HAVE to finish it. It's one of those games worth putting money on. I'm just waiting cause my PC is pretty old and I'm uncertain if I'd be able to run it so I'd rather play it on one of those consoles instead.

Yes, there may be karma in this game, quite astute observation if I may say so.

Waiting till it's on release but got my eye on this game, the concept and the psychological aspect makes this one stand out from the crowd for me.

Also visuals are nice I guess.

I saw some gameplay of it in the background of a Youtube video, I think either AngryJoe or Totalbiscuit, and thought it looked pretty cool.

It's on my wishlist but I want to wait for a sale right now since I splurged on some books recently. It looks really cool though.

That happened to me. He would only relieve stress through prayer, and then he freaked out and decided that he could only relieve stress through meditation... but that doesn't replace the former. So he was unable to relieve stress at all because of the conflict, so I had to lock him int he Sanitorium for a while to get rid of one of them.

My problem currently is that all of the avaliable missions are for level 3's, and most of my available guys are level 1. I worry that they'll wipe horrifically.

Edit: Finally managed to get a Hellion to level 3. Whereupon she immediately left my party to go on a string of sex romps. Apparently. So that's a thing.

On the plus side, hopefully a lot of the issues'll be patched out by the time you get around to it. The biggest one so far is that the game is ridiculously RNG based early game, and way too easy late. By that, I mean... I've lost on the tutorial before just because the enemy kept critting and I couldn't land anything. But after killing off the first boss, I found the second pretty easy with minor prep and the third immensely easy with just taking a random party in. Crits become commonplace later on, so you never really build up stress, which nulls the most unique mechanic the game has going for it. I've been told that the balance comes back around once you hit late game (the level 5 dungeons) but the midgame just turns into a grind.

Don't get me wrong, I like the game a lot and thinks it has a ton of potential, but it still has some flaws. 'course, content is going to be added to it in the future, so...
