Really, I could take any song off Murder Ballads or 80% of Nick Cave songs, but this one pushes the despair pretty hard, and it gets bonus points for the ironic title

Hollis Brown-By Bob Dylan.

I prefer Rise Against's Cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=At-YPyVW9R8

It's about an impoverished farm owner who, unable to feed his wife, four children, and newborn, is driven to kill them out of mercy before ending his own life.

Harsh.

I remember a while back I was flipping through my dads industrial collection and I came across a few wumpscut cds. I wandered about them but then continued going through other albums but damn am I glad you posted those songs because I live for this kind of shit. :D
I "recommend" Embryodead and the Mesner Tapes. Embryodead is a concept album about fetuses. Pro-life or pro-choice, it will troll you.
A concept album about fetuses? Color me intrigued. :S Man I miss the movements in the 90s when alot of music like this was surging underground.

Well, that's misleading... it's a concept album about how it would be better to never be born. The side effect is a lot of fetal imagery and creepiness (see "Womb").

Both Everything dies and Lung are especially morbid in their own right, but honestly Lung is just.... yeah Three little speckled frogs indeed there kiddo.

Maybe not the darkest I've ever heard, but any song by Ana Kefr is pretty dark/bleak in terms of lyric subject. Their very name, Ana Kefr, means "I am infidel", and pretty much all their songs are attacks on either religion in general or the hypocrisy (as they see it) of the UN. I don't care about the lyrics, I just love the music, but it's interesting to read up on some of their thoughts occasionally.

I just listened to a few tracks off of embryodead and I'm really digging the theme so far it's definitely really interesting. And if my last post sounded kinda like "oh an album about fetuses, sweet!" it's just because I like to be enthusiastic about everything.

Just look up the lyrics for The Window by The Black Dahlia Murder.
This this a million times this. The lyrics kinda make me feel sick to my stomach :p

Apparently the song is about an actual serial child-rapist and killer, said one of the bandmates in an interview.

The music is pretty standard industrial but yeah.

"Look through these blackened eyes you'll see ten thousand lies,
My lips may promise but my heart is a whore."

It's about him lying to others and himself about his drug abuse.

A lot of my other choices have been posted already.

Yes. This won the thread. Fuck everything else.

First, go to a youtube video and click share. A bar would show up highlighted. Right-click and copy that video. Then paste it as such:

then add brackets

then make it look like this(remove the quotations):

Growling and singing killkilldiedie such doesn't make a song "dark"

Hm... some of the darkest songs i have ever heard are by "Goethes Erben", i guess... too bad they are in german... well, i guess one could put the lyrics into a google translator.

(Ah sorry, quality is a bit low with this one:

Pretty dark...
First one is about "Where is our sweetsweet daughter? She laughed and played... now she is gone. Ah, let us eat this good sunday roast before searching for her again. Hm. i wonder where the butcher gets this good meat in this time of war?"

Second is... well... about "atoning" for crimes in a dystopian future (for example stealing bread or voicing your discontent on the yard of an "educational institution" as a 12 year-old child) by paying with measures amount of flesh and bone (Your own... which you have to amputate yourself)

Do people not know how to do spoilers? Cuts down on load time seriously.
Without being violent and giving me that 'trying to hard' vibe. Here we go:

Ballad of a Paralyzed Citizen by The Faint

It's about a dude who tried to do a good thing and ended up getting paralyzed. It gets worse. It's about a real person (I went to college with the subject's older brother)
