I can't judge the potency of updated fighting games' appeal myself, but still it seems folk are just comparing sales to CoD...which is unrealistic unfortunately :/ I mean look at Square Enix

I still want to know, are companies losing money or are the people in the suits just hard to please?
I'm thinking it's the later. I recall this having a review a week or so ago on here but it didn't quite register with me that this is a thing that is out and available for me to purchase. Maybe I've looked in the wrong places but I haven't seen a shred of advertising for this one. Then again, like others have said above, fighting games are niche and Capcom compulsively releases updates and, re-releases of their fighting games so I guess it's no wonder I barely registered this one's existence.

It's not like Darkstalkers was ever a must play fighter anyway. It took the conventions of other more popular games, but threw in a cheesy monster theme. (i mean the theme was cheesy monsters, not that the concept was cheesy) Not what most would call ground breaking even in the old arcade days. Let alone now.

This is the kind of game that should have come out around EVO. When fighter fans are really jazzed up on the very notion of fighters to begin with. Dropping it, barely announced or promoted, at random... I mean what do you expect? Not every fighter is going to set the world ablaze.

God dammit,Capcom.
Why did I read this in TFS Vegeta's voice...

OT: Capcom you set unrealistic expectations and then whine about the results for not meeting those expectations. That is the main problem with many gaming companies nowadays, they think that "if CoD can sell so well then our game can do better!" To be honest this thinking is what is part of the problem with the gaming industry today.

Capcom, want my money? Then make Legends 3 and don't cancel it and blame the fans.

I begin to suspect that they'd have said this regardless of how the game sold. Capcom is in the running for "company most actively antagonistic to their user base" from what I've seen. Seriously, half of what they do seems to be for no other purpose other than spite. I mean, even EA is jsut in it for money... Capcom doesn't even seem to care about that.

Aye, not quite sure what they could have been hoping for with this one.. Between MvC and SF4 (whatever edition is out) from capcom themselves, and Arc system works holding ground with P4 Arena and Blazblue. Toss in skull girls and I think arcana hearts 3 exists still.. it's not what one would call a good time to try and be the next big 2D fighter out there. The markets full for now that really only the nostalgia factor could really pull in anything (and worked fairly well all things considered) Darkstalkers has always been a niche title in an already niche crowd not quite sure what their plan was here just dropping it without a word and hoping? for the best.. I donno.. capcom has been acting really weird for a bit.
