This topic sprang to mind because my boyfriend and I have gotten into the habit of often sitting in at night or just going to the pub with our friends. We've been together for well over a year and recently we've hit that comfort zone where you don't make a much effort or go on as many couple's nights as before.

Last night, however, we decided to go bowling and afterwards we ended up playing this terrible, zombie-shooter arcade game for ages. It was a lovely night and something we have agreed to do more often.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling and actually create some discussion value.

For those in a relationship, do you and your significant other have a designated date night or have you settled into a routine where those nights aren't as important?
If you're single, what's the best date you've ever been on?
For those of you who haven't gotten there yet, what would your ideal date be?

Feel free to answer all three.

Ill Imagine the forever alone pictures with only the last question answered... jk ^_^

I had mine a while back

I am single so I used to date an girl who would drag me to every show that was in the small theatre that her father owned we had fun ^_^ we would rant at bad plays and laugh at all comedy sketches even if they weren't funny (to support the starting comedians)

I'm totally single soooooo... I'll do my best dates I ever went on.

I have actually never really been on the 'date' word itself, they were always more like 'hang outs' that just sort of... had a formulaic structure on. The first one of these I had no idea it was supposed to be a date:

Science Museum
Got invited to the Science Museum with a guy from Uni once... we both met at the train station and got the train to London which forced us to kinda talk to each other as otherwise it would have been boring! Then we went to the Science Museum which was free, and there were loads of cool hilarious things, and then as if by some sort of amazing luck, they also had this games convention on at the time and we went in and played all sorts of games from like, Pong to these 3d things and it was insane.

It only got awkward at the end when I kinda realised he wanted to go to dinner and then when he came to my car to say goodbye I freaked out and just ran off. Wasn't prepared for the kiss part.

We went out for about three months. Then he dumped me by text.

Pub Quiz
This wasn't successful at all but it was HILARIOUS. I met a guy in this band when I worked at this music venue in London, and we agreed to go hang out. I met him near a tube station near his house but like, everywhere we went it was super awkward, there was always one dude who would recognise him and it just got really weird. It was the most bizarre situation. Anyway, we both ran around to this really old pub and joined this pub quiz with about 30 other senior citizens. Needless to say our general knowledge wasn't quite as awesome as theirs!

Anyway, we didn't go out and there wasn't really anything there but we did have such a good time, and we're still good mates now :)

Also I think its super important to get a variety in your relationship - its all nice feeling comfortable at home day in and day out but after three years there's nothing really to shout about and so many awesome opportunities missed.

Pub Quiz WHERE????

i love them

nice story
Haha. If I remember correctly it was somewhere between Ealing and Raynors Lane in London (on the blue line!)

There are so many pub quizzes near where I live I think they're going to start having a league system

I remember doing 1 in a Irish pub I got owned by the 50+ club though they even knew old Metal songs of Rammstein.... (thought I was the only 1 who knew that)

and having a league system....they have to post the scores on some central board so everyone can have a good laugh about who knew which question

some people know the weirdest things

You sound like the most appropriate person to go on a date with to a pub quiz night you know!

Definitely keep it in mind. Not for everyone though.

Honestly I lived with my first girlfriend for over year so dates weren't an issue or regular as she'd get travel sick easily. On the rare occasion we'd just walk off in the hills or watch a film : P

We only went out occasionally, but it was nice to get dressed up all smart-like and go to a restaurant. Very grown-up feel to the whole affair.
Never really became routine, however, because these things can be expensive. Then again, routine gets boring, which is not something you want a date to be.
