Rah rah Microsoft deserves it. Rah rah go Datel. Whatever. They both are acting childish.

"Nooo I dun wan anyone making stuff for my system! I want all the monies!"

"Waaah that's unfair! You can't do that! Big judge man help me! Baaah!"
"Big judge man help me!"?

sounds like you have a problem with lawsuits in general, not this specific one, also, that's a pretty immature attitude.
Umm I've never been to court. How is my attitude immature? I guess a better word for this situation is stubborn. They both are being stubborn. It's dumb that microsoft doesn't allow third party devs but I don't see why Datel doesn't just forget about microsoft and make accessories for different consoles.
Because it is a large source of potential revenue for Datel, and the block is an injustice.

But it's not like they can't make accessories for other systems. The block itself isn't really injustice, Microsoft made the 360 so they have the right to say what can be made for it. It's just dumb of them to be so uptight about it.

But that's the thing, the way I see it, this isn't a market, this is an additional market for a much larger market, the console market, which Microsoft certainly doesn't have a monopoly over, rather than a market of it's own. I may be wrong in my definition or something, but from my point of view, they aren't doing anything wrong.
It might not be be THE market, but it's still something that competitors can create their own product for to try and make a profit. This is why third-party peripherals exist in the first place. I'm sure that Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft would LOVE to design their consoles so that only their controllers will work with their systems, but if they did that then they would be breaking monopoly laws because they are selling something (extra controllers) that they aren't allowing anyone else to produce and sell. Thus, they could charge whatever exorbitant prices they wanted to for extra controllers, and they wouldn't need to worry about whether or not they work (be it short term or long term).

When I bought my 360, it no was longer Microsofts property, it was mine. I should be able to choose what I can do and use with it. When MS blocked access to a product, then they did cross the line. 3rd party periphirals are not illegal like modding a console to enable piracy. So MS is infringing upon consumer rights by blocking Datal. Believe it or not, consumers do have rights. Like I said in the PS3 story about the Linux lawsuit. If companies want to deny you the freedom to do what you want with the products they make, then lease the equipment. Otherwise get out of MY product that I spent MY money on.

So they have a monopoly... over their own system? It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
