?Doctor Who?s? David Tennant To Guest on ?Star Wars: The Clone Wars?
Posted about 9 hours ago by Janice Kay0

It may not be the crossover event that many may have wanted, but it?s still big news knowing that former ?Doctor Who? star, David Tennant, will be guest starring on the animated series ?Star Wars: The Clone Wars.?

Tennant will appear (or at least his voice will be heard) on Saturday?s November 10th episode titled ?A Test of Strength.? The episode picks up from last week?s storyline where a group of young Jedi set out to build their first lightsabers. Tennant will be voicing the android named Huyang who is said to be a ?crucial part of this journey.?

As a ?Star Wars? fan himself, it?s not surprising to hear that Tennant accepted the offer of ?The Clone Wars? supervising director, Dave Filoni, who himself is a ?Doctor Who? fan. Speaking about Tennant?s appearance, Filoni remarked:

?As a fan that has the privilege of playing in the? Star Wars? galaxy, I am always on the lookout for others who appreciate, and would enjoy, an opportunity to go on an adventure in George?s galaxy far, far away. When I heard the Doctor himself, David Tennant, was a fan of ?Star Wars,? I knew I had to find a way to get in contact with him to see if he would perform on ?The Clone Wars.? The result was ?Huyang,? an ancient droid in the service of the Jedi Order, whose sole task in life has been overseeing the construction of lightsabers. I thought David was perfect for the part and he did not disappoint. He delivered a performance which impressed even the Master himself, George Lucas.?

Tennant is well-known in the UK and to his fans not only for his acting accomplishments, but also in his performances with voice work. He has starred in many radio plays for the BBC (such as ?The Purple Land? and ?Stonemouth?) , narrated documentaries (such as ?The Hidden Life of the Cell,? ?Earth Flight,? ?Monty Python In Aberystwyth? and the mockumentary ?Twenty Twelve?) and lent his voice to animated films like ?How to Train Your Dragon? and ?The Pirates! Band of Misfits.?

There is a video in This Link [http://sciencefiction.com/2012/11/07/doctor-whos-david-tennant-to-guest-on-star-wars-the-clone-wars/] that features Tennant as a droid named Huyang.

This is getting bizarre. First it was Simon Pegg, outspoken Prequel basher turning up on the show as a young Dengar, and now Tennant is showing up. And Disney buys Star Wars. This is just getting weird.

I don't know how to embed the video, so just check the link.

This season of The Clone Wars I feel has been incredibly weak so far. Darth Maul got his ass kicked by a bunch of drunken Pirates, the worst romance since Anakin and Padme played out over an incredibly boring four part arc (Lux and Ahsoka, blegh), and we are getting another arc immediately afterwards. Starring children. in Star Wars.

Children. In. Star. Wars. Might not sound too bad, until you remember little annie.

EDIT. Here's the video in Youtube form. Thanks to Madwarper for finding it.

It was hard to tell it was him until he starts his little monologue. Then... Yep, that's the Tennant all right.
